Has the price of fuel affected your driving habits in your Beast?
Still drive around town. Glad I have a small block Beast.
However I am now the poster boy for Exxon/Mobil as my rain/snow vehicle is a 88' Chevy 2500 monster truck. 65-70 to fill that pig now.
I've got a 16 cylinder family that is hungry.....Ramin noodle for dinner it is!!
INSANE!!!!!
Actually I just started making a move on a place located in a central tower here in the city. It's less than 4 miles to work and has a garage for both vehicles.
You fella's in the USA have it it easy! The price of fuel here in Autralia is $1.30 per litre, that's about $5.50 a gallon. It you left your car runing at the bowser while your filling it up it would cost you another $2.00. HeHeHeHe.
The CLK 55 AMG in the US I believe is about $85k USD, thats about $110K Australian. The same car here is about $220K Australian which is around $165K USD. That's a differnece of $80k USD, in other words you can buy two CLK55's in the US for the same price as one in Australia and your fuel is cheaper.
And, because of the big storm you guy's had the other day, our fuel here is going up again by about $0.50 a gallon next week.
I bought some Green Filters the other day, as we do not have them for MB's in Australia, the freight was dearer than what the filters cost.
I am interested in what the your insurance premiums are your these cars in the US, our cost here is approx $1,200 USD?
As for a CLK63, I would need to put a towbar on the back so to be able to pull round a tralier with spare fuel tank on it!

Greetings robertus, insurance here for me is $1,100 USD per year full coverage
what I feel is high. But a must as I am sure it is for you.
Take care.
I am glad to here that something is the same price. The insurance for the M3 we have is a little dearer than for a CLK.
Our insurance is calaulated by the suburb that you live in (postcode/Zipcode). Even if it is garaged in a secure place does not make any difference. The problem comes from the fact that if you live in classy suburb everybody drives MB & BMW's, so the cost of repair is high from that area, so the premium is higher. Now if I lived in a high crime & low social-economic area where everybody drove old clapped out cars my preminm would be lower because the repair cost for that area are low.
The only trouble with that is I would have to put Ford badges on the CLK so they would not steal it or scratch it while parked at the supermarket!.
Robert
Take care.

Good one i drive 150 miles each day round trip to work.

The parking slot in office is ~USD300/m
The parking slot at home is ~USD250/m
Fuel is HKD13.5/litre, my consumption rate is 15-16 litre/100km ~ 6.5km/litre =HKD$2/km=USD$0.25/km , I drive 60km daily on ave.,
fuel$/day is HKD$120=USD$16 or = USD$480/m
I don't see a +/- 30% rise of fuel cost would make any differences
