CLK 55 Coupe off MBUSA?
I was just checking out for fun the MBUsa website, and I noticed that there was no longer a CLK55 coupe, only the convertible. Now we all know that the new 63 amg engine is coming, but the c55 and s55 is still there. So i'm thinking, is it possible that MB will be introducing the CLK63 Amg pretty soon :v ?

Hi,
I would'nt be to sure about that CLK63 coming to soon. I heard the're not selling CLK55 AMG coupe's in the US because the Convertible CLK55 AMG is out selling the coupe and there is more margin in the Convertible. Rumours are they still have unsold CLK55 AMG's coupe's, no one is buying them only the convertible.
You only have to look at the CLK DTM Coupe they sold 100 of those but MB is producing 200 CLK DTM Convertibles, that tells you something.

Funny, the rag tops are heavier, slower, have more body flex and squeaks, and only look good when the top is down. Oh yes, they are about $10K more.
I can understand the greater margin for MB, (they need it now), but IMO, the negatives outweigh the positives. Besides, the sun burns your skin, gives you cancer and spots. It's good for the teeny boppers who know nothing. Yet, the rag tops outsell the coupe. Go figg'a.

The CLK55 AMG Coupe can still be ordered in New Zealand.
The local dealer had just ordered one when I was in last week.
When I mentioned that it was no longer available in the USA he said that they were obviously just getting rid of old stock in non USA markets!!!
Still saying 2008 for the next CLK model in New Zealand, coupe first, convertible later but the new V8 engines would be here July 2006.

Hi All,
Yeh, the coupe is still available here in Australia but I prefer the convertible. The convertible here is $225,000 onroad by the time you put a few extra's on. I think I will hold the our new convertible for about 18 to 24 months. Nearly bought a Maserati this time round not sure for next time, the new M3 V8 convertible in 2007 maybe interesting now the new shape is out, its also alot larger now as well.
Don't like the M6, there just something about it that just doesen't quite do it for me.

Yeh, know what you mean, but I tend to do mods to the convertibles to make them as quick if not quicker than the coupe's. Also I find the resale value here is better on the convertibles.
