Kleemann Header review
Well folks ,the install is complete! I Ran it at Moroso on Friday the 13th!!! All went well. It was 70 degrees F. and it was about to rain. And it finally did @ 11:30 pm. I got 3 runs in . Then some body blew an engine ,then the rain. came. Track conditions was not great , do to the weather.
The mph went from 106.2 best run back in December to 108.8 after the headers were installed. 2 1/2 mph increase.
It pulled harder from 5000 thru 6000 rpm. I was pleased!! I also got down into the 12.9s
It did not seem to loose any bottom end power . I still had to ease it off the lights. or the drag radials would go up in smoke, even at 18 psi tire air pressure. My 0-60 times still suck. I just got to get better self control.!! I also did a A-b-A sound pressure test. I had prevoiusly installed a Carlsson Muffler on the stock exhaust system , And used it again with the new headers and 100 cell cats. I have a minor drone about 25 thru 35 mph Light throttle opening. But at Hwy speeds . It was dead nuts the same as before the headers install . Very quiet at hwy speeds.
At wot it will snarl. Stock AMG exhaust under this condition was peak dbs 78.5 Headers with race cats and Carlsson muffler peak dbs 79.5. That was inside the car windows up and using a B & K sound pressure Mike. Not an inexpensive Radio Shack meter. I wish I could have measured it in Sozons. Which is closer to what the ear & brain hears. The header ceramic coating I used , also works well. Under hood temps seem to be down and the motor would cool down between rounds . I will have the dyno results next week . Here is some pictures

Did you put the car in dyno mode with the nittos ?.
Let me know when you are going to moroso again.

12.9's,good job! I think you can get close to that or even the same ET without the drag radials with some more driving time behind the wheel with your present new setup. Now is the rest of your exhaust system behind those cats or reso's custom made to the muffler? Thanx!

I used the stock exhaust pipe from the bell flange , just behind where the OEM secondary cats come together. Then I cut the AMG muffler off , that pipe at the begining of the S turn , in front of the rear suspension. We also used a Flowmaster Y connection 2 2-1/2" inlets too 3" exit. All new S.S. piping was used

Hi Albert; I was in S mode and it seemed to shift up @ 6400 rpm . I think it is way out of the power band. The dyno run will tell. I may try Manual mode and short shift it. farther down the rpm band ,like @ 5800 . I put the car on the scales . weighed in @ 3650 lbs , at the track!!I'll see you at the next get together . with Danny

I love the Y pipe. I bet you spent 1000's of $$ less than what some of these guys pay for on the supersprint exhaust(12k headers all the way back) system. It looks like you got a good quality exhaust there! Excellent! Please respond.Thanx Man!

CoolCarlSki: those are the bullet shaped , 100 cell race cats.
From the Y pipe back , is the OEM 3" S.S. exhaust pipe. . Where it enters the muffler we had to expand it out to 3 1/4 " . To fit the muffler inlet pipe , as you can see the inlet pipe splits out too 2 2 1/4" as it enters the muffler. Then it is a straight thru shoot to the out let tips. So if you take the $3600 headers + $320.00 cats + $565.00 custom exhaust work+ $1300.00 Carlsson muffler =$5220.00 for complete motor too Bumper

View My Car! Re: Stock M5 dyno numbers ....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just had a dyno day with the Puget Sound BMW Club about 2 months back. I have a 2000 M5 (37k miles, no engine mods) with 333 rwhp and 314 ft-lb torque. The dyno is a dynojet at RPM in Kirkland, WA. Later in the afternoon a 2002 M5 had 333 rwhp and 329 ft-lb torque but had K&N air filters in the stock air boxes. Would be a nice close race with the latter. Does anyone know if the E39 M5 has more topend than our beloved N/A 5.5L cars? Damn these things put out some power!

Times slip
I need a little practice Hopefully Danny & Albert will give me some on site pointers , On the 9th of Feb
60' 1.976
I've got the motor pulled down and installing the cams as we write. The valve covers are also getting Thermo coated. Mainly for appearance. They just look ugly!!!

Very nice! What was the car on the other side?
When you say motor pulled down you just mean you took off the heads for the cam install correct?

Mtr pulled down
I'will post some pictures. Coil paks & Valve covers are removed along with some other small parts. Cam position sensor . Cam chain tensioner, Cam sprockets , 20 bolts that hold the rocker assy on the head. But not the cyl head itself. You will notice the nice roller rocker arms
