No CLK63 Coupe for USA?
Spoke with my guy at Park Place in Dallas today. They said there will NOT be a CLK63 Coupe in the US. The CLK Coupes do not sell well, and, the cab will be the ONLY AMG63 version.
I mentioned that they are both being released at Geneva. He informed me that his order sheet didn't show the CLK63 Coupe coming, and, that he called Mercedes directly to double confirm.
Has anybody else heard this?
Not cool....

No, the CLK55 coupe was taken off the Canadian market for the 2006 model year (same as US). Only the CLK55 cabrio is being sold right now.
The CLK55 coupe was really a money grabbing product for MB, and I think many people avoided the CLK55 coupe for that reason. For model year 2005, the C55 costed ~$72000 CAD, while the CLK55 coupe costed ~$102000 CAD.
That's a $30000 CAD difference for the same engine and the same chassis (we all know that the CLK class shares the same underpinnings as the C class). For that extra dough, all you really get is 2 less doors, less rear seat room, the E-class instrument cluster, and a slightly heavier car, making the CLK55 a touch slower than the C55. Yes, I think the CLK is prettier than than the C....but I still don't think that justifies the huge price premium.
To give some perspective, a E55 costed ~$115000 CAD in 2005.
When I was shopping for a sport sedan in 2005, it was a no-brainer for me to not even consider the much more expensive CLK55 over the C55.
Now, I think the CLK63 is worth the price premium over the C-AMG car, ONLY IF C-AMG car doesn't get the same 6.2L V8. Like many of you, I also hope the CLK63 will be available in North America.
