I know you CLK guys have known for awhile but this was the first hard confirmation coming out of Geneva.....we're all gonna die. These things are just gonna be rockets!! Sure hoping for even more out of the E.
Mercedes-Benz put the spotlight on horsepower in Geneva, unveiling a slate of barn-burners from its AMG tuner division and what it says is the world's most powerful eight-cylinder, naturally aspirated production engine.
AMG debuted the CLK 63 coupe convertible to replace the AMG CLK 55. The AMG CLS and CLK models are powered by a 6.3-liter, 514hp V-8 developed in-house by AMG. It drives through a new AMG seven-speed transmission.
Mercedes claims the engine produces world-best torque and power for a non-boosted engine. "Even these heady heights are not the pinnacle of what can be achieved in series production," said Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH since September 2005, said.
The CLK 63 models will go on sale in June in the United States. The CLS version will come in September.
A 510hp version of the same engine will go into the R class sport wagon. The R63 goes on sale in August. The ML 63 SUV debuts in the United States in July.
Also unveiled was a freshened SL 65 AMG. The SL 65 AMG is powered by a turbo-boosted V-12 rated at 612 hp.

They won't make the CLK with all that hp...but even with 483..it's gonna give the E, a run for the money.

yup 480+/- hp.. .depending on emissions here at the states.
we always loose about 5 hp power compared to Europe.
Two gripes so far:
no coupe (hoping that is not true)
single muffler (2 tips)
but engine and trans
wheels are ok! I'm a little disappointed they are still only 225/255. With that much power, you need atleast 275's.

C55 AMG, 135i, 911 GT3, GLE43 AMG
If you go the international AMG site, the CLK63 coupe has quad pipes (like the C55). However, the CLK63 cabrio has dual pipes on one side only.
I wonder why that is....maybe something about the convertible roof taking more room???.....I'm reaching here.....

CLK55 AMG 2006 Cabrio, BMW M3 2008 DTC Cab new (M3 e46 SMG 2003 Cabrio Sold), BMW X5 tt Diesel 2008
Hi PC Valkyrie,
The reason is that there is a strut on the right hand side of the spare wheel well which prevents a muffler from being positioned in that area, so its no use bringing the exhuast down that side without a muffler attached to it.
There is no room to have the mufflers infront of the diff housing or near the tail shaft either. The only way is to bring the exhaust pipe between the spare wheel well and the rear bumper on Cabrio as I did on mine.
