Where/How did you buy your CLK55 W209
So I was wondering where (website like autotrader, mb dealer, etc) did you buy your W209 CLK55 from, and did you order it or did they have it on the lot. I've talked to some dealerships that sell high end cars and they told me they can order me one if I put down a deposit and I can get it within 2 weeks, but I'm hesistant on that, because I would first like to check out the car in person before I put a deposit on it. I'm trying to find one with less than 20k miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck!
It was last year and it was an 04 with 7K black on black for $54K. I looked at the picture for 2 nights. I couldn't find another AMG in town that I could drive. I live in Vegas, and the car was auctioned of in IL or somewhere down there. Two days after I spotted it on Ebay I called the dealer up that had the ad and put a down payment on it. Had it checked at the local MB dealer and after they OKed it I had it shipped here. The first time I even sat inside a CLK55 was on the day that it arrived on my doorstep.
I was not disappointed. If you are really looking for one you will find it. I just got lucky and had it land on my lap. Black on Black is great, just a pain to keep clean every once in a while. Good luck and don't be afraid to get it from out of state, just have the local dealer do a thorough check on it.

Take my car for example. I could tell you it runs perfect (it does), but I could leave out that I already have a few good rock chips on the front (4 to 5 small ones). I have a small ding on the driver's side rear quater panel and I have a few marks on 2 rims from curb rash. All considered normal wear and tear? I dunno? But car shines nice and runs great....
1. Before you drop airfare on going to look at a car out of town, contact the seller and ask lots of questions. Ask them to take lots of pictures of the car and inquire as to the issues that concern you (scratches, swirls, etc.). Most legit sellers will happily accommodate you.
2. If you still like the car, ASK a fellow forum member to go and look at the car in person for you. I have done this twice for folks (MBCA peeps)....it's a great way to get to know forum members better and (as long as it doesn't get out of hand with too many requests) is fun to go "kick tires".
3. If it still passes muster at this point, arrange to have the car fully inspected (PPI) at your expense. Expect this to run about $200, depending on the locale.
4. If the deal still looks good, then make your arrangements to travel there yourself. You will be the final judge.
Happy hunting!
They have one CLK55 blk, but it's a cabriolet. They also have a couple of silver ones, but I know you're looking for black.
in Miami and I live in Arizona. The car only ha 11,500 miles on it. After a complete detail- the car looks and rides awesome.
Dont be afraid to buy out of state. Have a local dealer inspect the car or do like I did- my local dealer ran the car through NetStar so I had a pretty good idea of any issues found by the dealer.
Funny how several people on this thread have already sold their CLK55's after less than a year (some only a few months). And I thought I had Chronic Car Buyer Syndrome...
