Got my NEW CHROME KEY today

Yes, the keys are available for your CLK.
I'm not a sponsor (yet) so I can't point you in a specific direction. That is, not without running afoul of the guidelines. :-)
That being said, you don't actually have to use both numbers unless you need both parts. The smart key itself, #211-766-36-06-9999, is the actual key that you insert into the steering column. Part #203-766-50-06 is the key blade that fits into the tip of the smart key and allows you to unlock the doors, etc.
Most people order both items as a set, but you can order each item separately if you'd prefer.
Hope this helps.

to order using both part # identified above. metal bladed keys are incompatible
for fitment across Smartkey body designs...though they will still operate the
mechanical locks if used independantly.

This is a great thread !!
Does anyone know what part number I'd have to order for a key here, in the UK ??
I have a 2000 (W208) CLK230. (My key is the same as the key in the top left of the pic, above).
The UK keys don't have the red 'Panic' button.
Thanks.

Ask your dealer, I'm also in the UK and all new keys now ordered are the new chrome ones.
I have one of the US ones with the Panic button (ordered from the US).
You will need to produce your V5 (registration document) and photographic ID (passport / drivers licence) and possibly a utility bill.

C230 - Do you know how much Merc dealers here (UK) charge for the keys ??
Are these keys available from any other source, that may be cheaper ?
I don't mind ordering from USA as long as frequency is the same. Where did you get yours from ?
Thanks C230 - Great help.

Keyless go will not recognize this key on an '03 mercedes. You will still have to carry your keyless go card. The key will work in your ignition with no problem.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
First - I am confused. Regarding an E55, my dealer a couple of weeks ago told me that the blade portion of my black key is not compatible with the new chrome smartkey - i.e. if I order new style smartkey and blade, they will not fit together as one and IF I wanted to carry both at one time they would be separate and the blade would be floating around in my pocket....... frustrating!
In reference to the post above me, what is a keyless go card? All the benzes I have seen/driven only require the original smartkey to be somewhere in the car or on your person to function correctly? Just curious............. thanks.

different at the head...which is where locking profiles must match. i dont think
this should be a deal breaker though, as the new metal key is only $5.

it isn't that they make the chrome key for any specific model, it is now that the chrome key is a replacement for the old style black units, so if you order a new key you will receive the new style chrome unit

and to raymond- the two pics of users on this post with older cars but new key looks like they have a keyring attached...... don't understand how this would be possible, since the key doesn't fit wouldn't it have to remain separate - thus no keychain connection possible? Thanks in advance!

oh...no problem. forgot to mention that you need p/n 211-0864-229 which
is the keyring adaptor. dealer price is $73 but they sometimes will give to
owners gratus as a goodwill gesture.

j/k
i'm not sure if you see this, but the mechanical/blade key simply slides into
the housing of the Smartkey, nesting inside. the keyring hole of the blade
key coincides perfectly with that of the Smartkey's keyring hole. the keyring
simply slides through both holes.
what you don't see is that on the flip side of the Smartkey, a release switch
allows the bladed key to be un/locked when needed.

waitaminute...jp, are you asking if the bladed key can be easily separated from
the Smartkey while a keyring is used? if so, the answer is no. unlike gen1 and
gen2 Smartkeys, in order to use the bladed key if a keyring is used,
1 - remove keyring from Smartkey and the blade key,
2 - then remove the blade key from the Smartkey
3 - use blade key (with Smartkey as one piece and keyring as separate piece
in your other hand/pocket...yes, now three pieces)
note that the blade key is much shorter then earlier variants and it also has less
leverage when trying to use in trunk lock...require more ninja finger effort.
the above is inaccurate. keeping this post here so that the thread and ensuing posts makes sense.

Question...
Before I order this key, I have a CLS500 06 w Keyless Go. Will the key work with my car using keyless go?
I am ready to pull the trigger!

raymond - Now that you brought it up, I have seen the new key on multiple friends cars so I understand how the keyring works, regarding the external keyring having to go through dual holes, or simply could retain keyring and have no blade whatsoever due to the fact that there is still a ring (unlike older keys there was no ring when blade was removed)
BUT I was referring to the fact that the users of this board who have posted pics of new keys in this thread APPEAR to have an intact blade..... this makes no sense to me because my understanding (assuming the blade is cut for their car) is that it WILL NOT fit into new chrome smartkey. So my only solution is that in their smartkey the blade is uncut and blank and thus useless. If they could answer would be fantastic! By the way, what exactly was $79 dollars? My dealer faxed me a parts list that was roughly $179 for key and $7 for cut blade. What happens if I order just $179 key but no blade -- will my smartkey be shipped with blank uncut blade or no blade whatsoever??
thanks so much for your help, as you know I am going through this dilemma now w getting an extra key........

There are 2 types of the new Chrome smart keys. The first type has a retractable thin ring that goes in and out as you put in and take out your blade key. The second type does not have this ring at all. Once you take your blade key out, there's no ring. I don't know who gets what. On the first type, they keyring does not go through two holes, once you put in your blade key, it will push down the thin ring into the smart key.
The old blade key will not fit into the new chrome smart keys. You have to order a new blade key that matches. When you order your blade key, you must give them your VIN and they come pre-cut. I don't think you can order a blank blade key.
When the chrome keys first came out, they listed the wrong price and many of us bought them for significantly lower than the list price. That deal is over and $179 is about what they are going for at the dealerships. If you order just the smart key, I believe you will not get a blade at all.
