Got my NEW CHROME KEY today

Just wanted to let everyone that I got the NEW CHROME Key today for my 2001 CLK55. If anyone wanted to know if it worked, it works perfect. I ordered it from Loeber Motors in Lincolnwood, IL. I had to bicker with the Parts Guy but he finally agreed and ordered it. It was 68.00 with tax. Thats right $68.00 for a key. If anyone lives in the Chicagoland area just go there and ask for Darion. Here are the part #'s

2117663606 ---- KEY STANDARD

2037665006 ---- BLADE SMART

If you don't live in the Chicagoland area then just go to OEMPARTSDIRECT dot com and cut and paste these #'s in. They will need you to fax your title or registration and Drivers Liscense in. Just some info if anyone wants the new CHROME key. You can't beat the price. You can also try different dealerships in your area, but most of the parts guys are clueless. Or they will tell you it doesn't work, or they will try to add 9999 to the end of the part #'s, and that makes the price go up. Just tell them to order it with the part #'s I've supplied, don't add the 9999 on the end. Hope this helps!!!!!! Tell them you will pre-pay and if it doesn't work you'll eat the $68 bucks, thats what I did.

Especially for the new CHROME one. You can't get the old looking key for that price.

I just ordered mine (for a W210) from oempartsdirect too. Good price, and according to some people on another thread, they are able to do all the required programming.

$68.00 bucks for the remote and blade. You can't go wrong. Try your dealership if they are to stupid, then just order it from oempartsdirect dot com. You BLACKBENZZ need that key, you need a HOT LOOKING KEY, to go with that HOT LOOKING CAR. It comes programmed ready to go. You don't have to do anything. Just make sure you fax OEMPARTSDIRECT your Title or Registration and a copy of your DL.

Did you give the parts guy the part #'s I gave you??? Or did you call them and ask them for a the new chrome key??? You need to stick with those part#'s. Also why can't you find it on oempartsdirect??? Just paste those part #'s in there website. It's very simple.

I did give him the part numbers. He said that it pulls up with the 9999 at the end. When I called another dealership they said the same thing. The second dealership asked if I had keyless go and when I told her yes, she says the computer says its a "non-keyless go" key.

When I select "2003 Mercedes Benz S55" and cut and paste the part numbers, it says its not available. When I don't cut and paste , it says its available.

Don't select any type of car. Just cut and paste the #'s in the (Search by Factory Part Number) box. Then add them to your cart and pay for them. Very simple. Better yet click the multiple part # search box. Put both part #'s in and your done. Your other question........Your dealer is adding the 9999 at the end. He has been told to, that is the way they order keys. You need to tell him not enter the 9999 in and just order those part #'s that I have specified. He probably gave you some SHMEEL that if he enters the #'s like that, the order will get kicked out of the system. Explain to him that it won't, and you'll be more then happy to eat the 68.00. If he doesn't do it then he's a MORON.

Just ordered it from oem parts direct. Really didn't feel like arguing with the people at the dealership over the phone. I like to do it in person when I can see their hands on the keyboard.

Just a matter of time 'til the key gets in.

BTW. Do I go ahead and fax over a copy of the title now, or do they ask for it. I entered the VIN during the order process.

I believe they will send you an email requesting it. But if you want I would go ahead and FAX your Title or Registration and a copy of your DL. You could probably email to them.

Order Process

I just finished the purchase process:
(1) Go to: http://www.oempartsdirect.com/index.php
(2) Find Section 2 entitled, "Search by Factory Part Number"; then
(3) Under this section, click on the button called "Multiple Part Number Search"
(4) On line 1, enter part #2117663606 for the KEY STANDARD and select Mercedes-Benz.
(5) On line 2, enter part #2037665006 for the BLADE SMART Key and select Mercedes-Benz.
(6) Hit the "Get Parts" button.
(7) Hit "Add to Cart" button.
(8) Hit "Check-Out" button and then fill out billing and shipping information. Note that in the final process you will have to enter the VIN.
(9) Cost was $61.58 shipped ground. You can pay for faster shipping.
(10) You will receive an "Order Comment" email from Jaimie Pickard requesting a copy via email or fax (540-777-3034) of your registration and driver's license. I scanned and emailed them back to Jamie- Jamie.pickard@hammersley.com.

Amazing. With all the fuss the dealership aledgedly has to deal with to get a spare key. Or is that only if you lost an original and they have to remove that lost one from your car?

So with a VIN and some photoshopping one can order a key of a car. Interesting...

I guess if you can photoshop a DL and a Title or registration. I wonder if they do any kind of checking.
