It's easy bro. Take off that emissions blower,(the black turbine looking thing) It's one bolt. Then take off the radiator hose. You should then see two or three bolts(I can't remeber) that you have to loosen to free up the thermostat. Any more questions I'll pm you my #. Remeber to drain some of the AntiFreeze out of the radiator first and remove the front part of the airfilter housing.

I put the Thermostat in my car by myself, it took a total of 45 minutes. PTE's thermostats come with the housing. It's a brand new thermostat, Housing, and gasket. Just be sure to remove the belt. It's hard to get to the 2 bolts that remove the thermostat. I have attatched an image. It is the smaller of the 2. The Larger one is for a w211 E55.

I can't remember needing to remove the belt. I don't think I had too.

It just made things alot easier. The belt was in the way on my car. I probably could have installed it, but it would have been a pain in the as*.

It does not allow the temps to get low enuff to harm the motor. If the temp stayed too low (ex:Stuck open t-stat) the most that would happen is the car would just use more fuel and you'd have terrible fuel economy and no heat in the winter.

I got 222 yesterday for this years highest engine temp so far. It was 90 degrees outside and a tiny bit humid.

If I was at a light long enough I bet it would get higher. I've got the PTE thermo and I'll do it this weekend now that I see how hot it really gets. I'm affraid to even floor it when it's that hot. Thanks for the trick!

Correction my climate control is different. I actually have just one auto button. The fan speed control button is what allows me to scroll thru the codes.

I looked at my car. The engine temp was in the 190's.

Question though -- it says in the list that #01 is for the in-car temperature sensor. Where is it located by chance? My #01 reads very high, like high 80's when it is probably mid 70's in the car. Because of that I tend not to use the "auto" setting for the fan. If set it to 74 or 75 and it seems to run the fan at max speed most of the trip, and usually doesn't go below 2 clicks less than max. In my Prius the auto climate control works pretty well and I keep the temp on 74-75 with no problems. To turn the fan down a little I raise the temperature a click or two.

Doesn't seem to work like that in my CLK55 though. Any ideas or advice?

Ok so some quick questions.
For 01 I get a constant reading of 261 or sometimes looks like 26.1?
For 10 it just says 0
For 22 it is in km/h even though everything is set to Emp not metric?

Now I had my bumper replaced and the Lorinser put on and my Temp is saying 68 on the gage and because I am having the LCD problems I think it is saying the same. Any idea why I am not getting a true inside and outside reading? I did replace my battery which was totally dead when I picked it up from the shop that did the bumper.
