New Tires Needed
I need advice on new tires. I only drive my care in the summer... living in chicago...driving a 55 doesn't seem like a good idea...
I currently have Nitto 555 ZR rated tires
front: 235 91W 40zr 18
Rear: 275 95W 35zr 18
The ride like **** in the rain... I'm even afraid to touch the gas when taking a turn.
I need new tires... and??? don't know what to get...
went to a european place and the recommended VREDESTEIN... I'm assuming its an european tire... made for european cars...
I would like to know if anyone has tires on their car that they cannot complain about...and is long lasting...

I have Toyo Proxes T1R and I can't complain about them. On my other car I've had Pirelli Pzero Nero and Pzero Rosso and can't complain about them either. The michelin pilot sport 2 is a good tire as well.

I run Goodyear F1's and they are exceptional both in the dry and wet. Honestly cant rate their wet weather performance high enough, water shoots off them. They wear really well and road noise is great. I run them on both cars.

if you want to go the budget route and still get a good tire i would suggest kumho. i am not to keen on overpaying for tires and have had great luck with them. i suggest going to tirerack.com and reading the buyer reviews. plus tirerack.com also rates each tire for wet and dry.

yeah, kumho is a good tire as well...a friend of mine was runnin those back when Acura Integras were hot...hahaha, memorieeessss

Hey Ze, I'm a big Kumho fan too but my only point of reference is 3 sets I put on Range Rovers but they are a fine performance tire for a 6000 lb vehicle. I would imagine they perform just as well for a CLK.
I have over 2000 miles on a set of Goodyear F1's on my car and I can say without a doubt these are the best tires I have ever run. Every expert told me "if you can afford em, get the F1's" and I have no regrets. Awesome tire, but if I hadnt bought these I would have gotten the Ecstas.
