W208 resonator removed

After much delay I've finally had my resonator removed. I must say it is an improvement. It's not a huge difference but I can tell. At idle & start-up the exhaust has a deeper rumble. Under acceleration it sounds even better. I'd recommend it.

You should also have your 2 rear cats removed as well. It'll sound a lot more throatier.

Damn bro' are you looking for trouble? it is an immediate fine if you even ask a muffler shop to remove your cats completely.

That wouldn't fly here in Oregon. They emmissions test vehicles every 2 years.

i've had the 2 rear cats and the resonator removed out of my car for almost a year now..... passed smog without any problems.

yes, it is illegal, however, i believe it is illegal in California to modify ANY part of your exhaust, including the resonator.... so if you are going to do something illegal, you might as well go all the way and get the sound you are looking for =)

i could never live in CA. too much red tape. everytime i think CA is pretty cool i read something like that. so they will technically not let you alter the factory exhaust at all? even if you are replacing factory cats with hi-flow cats.

Anything behind the last cat is fair game in California (provided it passes the noise ordinances)

Any sound clips? My car is at the shop right now getting the resonator delete, might do the secondary cats at the same time. How much did you guys pay for the resonator delete?

Ahmad if you delete the secondary cats ,replace them with high flow metalic cats. Only get rid of your primary cats, this is where the hp bottleneck is. You'll hear what my car sounds like when I bring it down to Maryland.

Removing your reso will only lighten your car and give it a nice throaty exh sound. No hp increase there, but a nice weight saving mod to say the least!

Thanks for the info. I'm not deleting the resonator for hp, as you said its for weight savings and sound. Also to make it one pipe closer to the front of the car so I can put a exhaust bung in and install my afr gauge. Should be done either tomorrow or the day after.

Did you have any problems with the ecu reading a different back pressure by any chance? I'm thinking of doing this but don't want to receive any errors or codes. So just take it to a muffler shop and ask them to take out the resonator? Do you recommend the supersprint resonator or just delete the resonator and save the money and still get a nice sound? Any info helps

Thanks
