I haven't heard it on the 5.5L engine only the 3.2L but the Eisenmann exhaust sounds great. It's around $1,300 from here not including installation.

Performance-wise you probably won't see much improvement. If you're looking for sound, you'll have some options.

What is your goal?

So how would deleting ther resonator improve performance? I know it will make the car a little throatier, but it's just a pass thru so I don't think it will do anything for performance.

As mentioned earlier, there is not really anything available as AMG did a very nice job with the flow on the stock units. Examine the performance tuners websites for CLK55 exhausts and they are either non-existent or offer tiny gains - unless you want to add headers, custom intake or perhaps RENNtech airbox....

Gains will be minimal without (1) a blower or (2) nitrous.

I've still got nearly 2 years left on my factory extended warranty....I'll wait a bit for any 'surgery'.

Make sure you're sitting down. Their website prices the c/f airbox and ECU upgrade at $3295. They claim a 20hp gain.

Sorry I was answering the original poster...they didn't mention that they wanted a performance gain, they strictly wanted a great sound. Especially this only costing roughly $100 to replace with straight pipes you can't beat it. If you want an exhaust with performance gains an Eisenmann exhaust would be your best option, very expensive though. Just like the RENNtech airbox.

What are the claimed gains on a W208 CLK55, over stock exhaust?

AFAIK, Eisenmann doesn't even make an AMG-specific exhaust replacement for the W208 (just uses the application for CLK430).

YEAH I KNOW! I called them yesterday. That's insane!!! I'm sure it's good quality and all, but $3,295??? way way way over priced in my opinion... Did anybody here ever bought one? I'm curious about their feedback... I think I'll just stick with my stock one. BTW, the guy @ RENNtech told me not to buy green or K&N oil based filters. He said I will have MAF issues and those filters don't offer any power gains. He said AMG stock air filter is well tuned...

I was wondering the same thing... according to their website, there are two options, Sport and Racing/Performance. Sport supposedly is 4-5 hp gain and Racing/Performance is 6-7 hp gain... So I don't know if it will do much besides sounding great...

The stock muffler will work just fine. Trust me!
