diff b/w 430 CLK and 430 CLK AMG
if you are from a part of the world (outside the US) where the AMG package does not come standard on the 430, then i know you get the aerodynamics and 17" AMG wheels...
Thanks for the response Petie. I'm looking at buying a 430 AMG here in the US. You're saying there is nothing different from a regular 430, except the AMG wheels???

If you're buying an CLK430, don't give the AMG badge any weight whatsoever. Treat the badge like its a bumber sticker - it was tacked on after the fact by the owner and has no bearing to what the car actually is.

The few that do have an inexplicable complex with their car that they feel they need to call it something that it isn't.

is this true? i agree with the general concensus on putting an AMG badge on your 430, but thats one hell of a generalization dont you think? perhaps the reason they did it is because they think differently than you, and may have a completely different reason altogether for the ///AMG badge....i dont know....
The 'inexplicable' is where I denoted that I didn't know what or why. Notice that I didn't put what kind of complex. Whether that is inferiority or what, dunno and aren't going to venture there.
But I don't know of any reason to put the AMG badge there unless your trying to associate a car with something it isn't. It's no different than putting lingenfelter, dinan, brabus or whatever. If it belonged on the car then the tuner would have put it on the car. If it wasn't on the car to begin with, then yes, you're putting something on it that is representing something it isn't. . . . Maybe there is a completely different reason that I'm not familiar with, but since the number is so so low in terms of the total number of AMG badged CLK's (how many out of 100 do you think go and re-badge ??) - we can only guess at what their true intent was.
Hey!!
My name is Micahel Greene!!!! WTF does that mean
:p
all the CLK430 sold in the US has the sport pkg standard with the AMG bodykit, and 17' AMG rims, but the suspension and engine is not tuned by AMG.
like Petie said, the AMG badge is $50 dollar at any MB dealership.
theine, yes, there is nothing wrong with badging your own car, but the car is not a AMG or Brabus or Carlsson or Lorinser unless it is properly tuned (engine, suspension, kits, etc) by AMG or Brabus or Carlsson or Lorinser. A car is none of these name without the engine. Hopefully those with badge will not go around and tell people that they have a AMG or Brabus or Carlsson or Lorinser because i would expect tuned engine by the badging named company.
