This is in fact one of the rare V12 Supercharged versions of the R230.

I could be wrong, but I think if you look carefully, the side badge says V12 Kompressor. It sure as hell doesn't look like BiTurbo

Listing my Mercedes as twin charged, I have one of the rare supercharged and turbocharged M273s. Got turbos and blowers on the engine, in the trunk, on my roof rack, in the gas tank

I think it's acceptable if you remove or weld up the rear doors but I'd have to look that one up in the rule book .

As usual, I wasn't quick enough with my phone to snap a pic. I was one car back from an ML500 AMG. It did not even have the AMG sport pack (like it matters), but what really got me was it still had the local MB Dealers temp plate on it. I am outing them. It was Mercedes Benz of Elmbrook in Waukesha WI. Shame on them.

I saw a Mercedes with a BMW M power logo on it the other day.

I love Florida.

This one was driven by a woman who turned into the subdivision with homes in the seven figures. You think she could afford a real 55.

It does, but it still isn't an AMG product. You could drive a new C63 but if you called it a Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains product like from their F1 team, even though there were shared engineering resources, it still doesn't make it an F1 product. As much as we give people crap for AMG vs Non-AMG as far as engines are concerned, I think the overarching issue here is don't brand your car as something that it wasn't branded as from the factory, it's poser-ish.

Point taken. I was just point out that at least this car could have an AMG drivetrain.

If anyone knows anyone that is looking to step up their posing game or just add AMG exhaust to their E class

, I just took off my stock E55 mufflers. If anyone is interested PM me a reasonable offer.

Tell me what the difference is. You take a SLK320, drop in the AMG "stuff", and it becomes a SLK32 AMG. You take a Crossfire N/A, drop in the exact same AMG "stuff", and it's NOT a AMG product. Pretty narrow minded thinking if you ask me. We all know that M/B management was just chest thumping, not wanting to ever admit the the Chrysler engineers were running rings around their antiquated design philosophy. Case in point, One of, if not THE greatest Supercar design that came out in 2004 was the Chrysler ME412, which M/B quickly gave the death sentence to simply because it would put to shame the SLS or anything else M/B had in their design studio, plus the fact that the SRT guys pushed a 6.0-liter AMG-derived V12 to heights never achieved by anyone, putting out 850 hp at 5,750 rpm and 850 lb-ft of torque between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm, and it took them only 6 months to perfect it. A real crying shame!

Put it this way. If Chrysler were to drop a 700hp HellCat into a SL500 I'm sure you'd have seen "Furie" and "SRT" logos all over it!!!

E55 AMG | Buell Lightning XB12
AMG posers-dhmeazk.gif

Lighter and faster than the R170 SLK from which it was derived. It had better cooling, and handling to boot. A small brake upgrade, and tune short from real stop and go performance.

But I agree, it's wrong to place AMG badges on the body, as it's not the trim level of the car. The SRT-6 nameplate was so limited as it was, that it makes more sense to fly a flag of rare prestige (imo).

As for the 3-point Stars and AMG insignia all over the engine, et al... Those were there from the factory, so they are perfectly fine.

Full disclosure... I may be a tad biased, as I used to own one.
