If I buy AMG struts, springs, rotors, bodykit, ect, it for some reason is still not acceptable on these boards.
Most people dont do any upgrades and just slap a badge on the back. Like I said in your thread, If i did a bunch of upgrades to my car I wouldn't put AMG badges on it, what did AMG do at that point? Nothing.
The long and the short of it is, it is your car and you can do what you want. We will still point, laugh and call you a poser though.

And as I mentioned before, I actually see more drivers of true AMG cars that probably deserve that label more so (the douche part that is, not the poser, although that still might apply).

Sure, but what if you bought used AMG parts from the forum and installed true AMG parts? Again, people will still make the poser claim because "it didnt come from the factory that way!".
Now, I agree with you for the people that literally do no upgrades, throw a badge on the back, and what to be looked at as "cool" because they own an AMG. They look ridiculous, and absolutely deserve to show up in this thread.
But again, this crowd thinks that if it didnt come from the factory that way, its sacrilegious to throw AMG on it no matter what. Period, end of story, the VIN says it all. Closed book.
Anyway, I defend AMGs all the time too. Ask a vette guy and 99% of them will say Mercedes (AMG or not) are slow, heavy, cant handle and dont brake well.
Its funny to point out a C5 Z06 with two piston sliding calipers, vs my "lowly Mercedes" that has 4 piston fixed calipers. Or that we have a pretty damn advanced suspension with the 3 link and 5 link vs a Z06 with transverse leaf springs (still a cool suspension in its own right).
So I defend Mercedes and AMG all the time. I think Mercedes and AMG put a ton of great technology into their vehicles that, whether or not they are slower or faster, they are still marvels of engineering that deserve a lot of respect. And again, its fun to see how much respect you get before vs after a race .
All in all, we all love Mercedes cars.

Picture is pretty crappy... but this was a E350 I pulled up behind today in Atlanta with E63 badging.... There is so much of this d-baggery in Atlanta...
I was driving with my son and pointed out to him that the SLK320 AMG in front of us was a fake. The guy was driving very aggressively, cutting in and out of traffic, speeding from stop lights, etc. And then the clouds parted and the angels sang and we pulled up next to him at a red light. My boy (so proud of him) said "Why don't you show him a real AMG?". As he got smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror we both had a good laugh!
Funny how a lot of people with AMG badges drives fast, aggressive, cuts in and out of traffic... real AMG owners "like myself", driving like a old lady behind the wheel not passing 2500RPM gets cut off by imports, domestic muscles, street thugs, AMG badged Benzs.
