AMG posers
If you are familiar with the Affalterbach facility you would know that there are 45-50 engine assemblers.
Each man ( one man-one engine) assembles 2-3 engines per day.
Don't think that they soley use hand tools as there are production jigs that are able to torque all the head bolts at one time.
Is there a quality difference between an AMG and a fully automated Merc production line build, the answer is most certainly.
AMG due to volume doesn't retain the cache that the pre merger one off builds had ( with the exception of the Black Series ), but still the AMG variant will hold value more then a standard production Benz.
There are videos of an M113 being assembled by AMG, and yes they have jigs that torque some assemblies at once. They're pretty methodical about hte process however. Moreso than what I saw with Nissan's engineers building an engine for the GT-R.
I would never get an AMG badge i just wanted to see how many of you get their panties in a bunch. Stop bringing up the clk63 AMg idiots 2 diff motors.
YOU HAVE CLK55 AMG not CLK 63 AMG you drive an outdated car that anyone can get for 25K.
Please, for the love of all that is AMG, NA, and all on the Earth do not argue this anymore. For the life of me, I don't get why these arguments and debates keep occurring in this thread. Damn, it's no engine no badge, period. All this internet tough guy stuff, and going nuts over some fake badges, obviously some people need something else to do.
If people pose, let them, it's their ride, and they are only lying to themselves. Even with the posing, you have a mix of people that have no idea that they are posing, as some dealers are slapping badges on cars, and not just AMG's. I saw a BMW 7iL that had a M badge on it yesterday, and that guy had no idea what it meant when I mentioned it. He had just bought the car used. The bottom line is only enthusiasts of cars know the differences, and the average person could care less or not aware. (AMG, M, SRT, etc)
The pics pointing out the posers are cool and somewhat funny, but these nutball flareups are not.
BTW- We have one guy on MBWorld that changed his CLS500 over to a 55 engine, great work, and he is not putting the badge on his car either.
lol. I'm not saying I would, just wanted to hear people's opinions since someone said "no engine, no badge". I wouldn't even have the 320, I would leave it debaged.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
18000 engines / (5 days * 52 weeks) = 69 engines per day. At 50 master mechanics, that makes 1 - 2 engine per day per mechanic. And it's a sexy number

Different cultures, different views I guess. If I lived in North America again I would definately not have an AMG badge on a non-actual AMG, it gets too many stained panties in a knot. That being said, there are probably double/triple and even more so cars non-AMG cars badged with AMG than there actually are real ones in the US and Canada.

I personally would never put an AMG badge on a non-amg production car, but thats just me... Its kinda like wearing a replica watch, you will always know its a FAKE!
I was interested to see the banter about AMG badging, (I didn't read single every post on this thread tbh).
I'm in the UK, and just about to collect a 2000 year W208 CLK 430...with on the boot (ok, trunk to most of you) is CLK 43 on the left where a 55 would have CLK 55, and the AMG logo on the other side.
The car is one family owner since new, was specified built with AMG body kit, AMG suspension and possibly AMG exhaust (not sure oon that one, but has AMG style tails, I'll check out when I get her home on Saturday). I understand there was a 'regular' 430 and an AMG 430?
Anyway, I was uneasy about the badging anyway, much more so now! I don't want to pull off original badging or on the other hand feel a **** around a 'real' AMG 55 in traffic..know what I mean?
Dilemma.. Anyone know more about AMG M-B factory uprated 430's?
Oh and great forum, LOTS to see and learn here! :o)

Pop the hood, if the motor is AMG then you could wear the badge. No motor, no badge.
Btw, looked at your car, immense amount to work/money invested there...but noticed you say you run 'AMG rep' summer wheels, but they actually say AMG on the rim? Thats not normal with replicas.
Are those genuine AMG rims or knockoffs, and if so how do you justify that in relation to frowning on AMG badging applied at the M-B factory, or even the official M-B dealer (would have to be with the blessing of AMG, no?) Just a question. ;O)
I'm leaning towards removing ALL the trunk badging. (The car has knock off 18" Brabus rims (thankfully staggered fitment at least!) so I'm not a 'holier than thou' type!)
I should say, I ran a wheel business importing branded german wheels into the UK for 4-5 years, so hence my interest in your wheels.
