True, good to know. Definitely sounded sick, just made me curious because I hadn't seen that before. Mercedes noob = me.

Hey guys.

Actually the convertible CLK63's only have one twin tailpipe.

The CLK63 Coupe, however, has two twin tailpipes.

I believe it has something to do with strengthening beams in the convertible that make having two twin tailpipes hard to fashion.

Could be a couple of more been sold here through dealerships here in Czech.

http://autobazar.automix.centrum.cz/...49774368709358 - 2009 E-class. This things seems to have everything which would make it a AMG EXCEPT last time I checked they don't make 3.5L diesel 4-matic e-class!Really hate when MB sells these AMG styling kits!

Not AMG issue, http://autobazar.automix.centrum.cz/...41025222681444 but since when did they make a 2006 GL500? As far as I aware the 500 only came in 2008 in Europe (550 in US)

Don't understand you AMG guys, posers should represent the ultimate flattery for you. If you have one great! If you dream of having one, good too! If they would have built an AWD C55, I'd own one. But they don't. So I've got my 4Matic badge. Good enough for me. I needed AWD and AMG couldn't provide one. I do plan on getting all the AMG parts in and out for it, but I certainly do not think I'm trying to pose. I like the 4matic and the look of the AMG, what am I supposed to do?

MT8667 - My main issue is with MB and their dealers who badge up a non-AMG car in the hopes of driving a hire price by positioning the car something it is not. You would think that MB of all companies would understand brand value and that keeping a premuim brand seperate from core brand is basic marketing.
I personally don't have any issue with you wanting to part your car out with AMG parts as this is your choice. There are alot of people who would love to see a AWD AMG car but alas they don't make it. If AWD is requried why not get a ML63?

I agree that the dealers should not be doing that. I have always loved the look of the w203's, which is why I bought one. I wish I had a c55 but the AWD is almost a necessity here in PA. I am jealous of you AMG owners though. I am installing a CLK55 AMG cluster in next week-so it'll be a little closer!

You can put all the AMG parts on your car you want. No one is saying you can't do that. We are saying don't slap a badge on the back and pretend its a genuine AMG. Its not.....no matter how many parts you replace.

I think badging up is lame. As I said, like last year, if I can refrain from AMGing my rebodied SLK32 AMG, then people with just brakes, body kits etc. Should be able to as well...

I don't believe that there was a true 1994 amg.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-AMG
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W124

I believe that the 1994 320 had amg trim, similar to the 430/209 model but it was not built by amg nor perform like an amg.

This thread has been devoted to people who put an amg badge on a car that was not produced by amg. regardless of the trim packages that have been added to the car.

I really dont know I'm going to post some pics of the engine compartment. I know the sterring is exceptionally tight and it'll run about 150 flat out, and real quick in the 1/8 Im guess about 80 mph

First off, dont site information from wikipedia. who knows what type of bs is on there. I think you mean 430/w208. w209 is 500-550

Fair enough, but remember...

When we order a car from MB with the AMG package, the car actually goes to AMG and has all the parts installed there.

Ahmed,

The vehicle doesn't "go" anywhere. Only the AMG engines are produced in Affalterbach. After the engines are assembled they are shipped to the specific Mercedes-Benz factory where the vehicle type for a specific AMG engine is being manufactured. The AMG engine and parts are then added to the vehicle as it is being assembled on the regular production line, along with all of the other production vehicles.

My understanding as well, except for perhaps the Performance Studio vehicles.

Agreed, but what about the suspension, brakes, gearbox, and all the other AMG mechanical parts? Are they delivered to the assemble line as well?

If were talking about a "Regular" AMG, all of the components are delivered to the assembly plant and the AMG parts go on in place of the regular components.

There is a small area at Affalterbach where special modifications are made to customers vehicles. But this is done after the car has been completed at one of the regular Mercedes-Benz assembly plants. The types of modifications that are done here are the addition of special bespoke interiors, special racing suspension, limited slip differentials, fuel cells, fire suppression systems, and racing seats (such as the Asia Cup SLK). You can find a list of services that they can perform there at http://www.mercedes-amg.de. There usually is a listing of services and prices for the services that are available. Unfortunately, for those of us who live in the U.S., Mercedes-AMG will not do any of these appearance or tuning modifications to any vehicle that has as U.S. VIN, even if you were to have your vehicle shipped to them in Germany.
