Quote: I notice a lot of AMG emblems on non-AMG cars in Atlanta all of a sudden...very strange. Some of these cars were being sold at dealers as well. Go figure?
Yeah dealers will throw the ol' AMG logo on if the car comes with an AMG package (i.e. AMG body kit, AMG wheels, etc..) but it shouldn't be allowed

over in Australia CLK55 AMG w209 fetch $60kaus (coupe) easy $65k aus (cab), which is a shock compared to US pricing.

My point being, you dont see as many CLK55AMG or CLK63 W209's over here.

Some idiot at the lights, cared to make a comment

"nice copy"

I mentioned

"Excuse me"

He mentioned, "I thought AMG's had twin tips on both side"

I then educated him, one less uneducated muppet off the road. His thoughts are due to idiot putting AMG badges on models they dont belong.

Has anyone else had an experience like that?

Sometimes I get people asking me if I have the supercharged engine. Alot of people think all the 55s are supercharged.

I get this a lot as well. Unfortunately I have to say no, however I may one day just transplant a W211 power plant into her.

Did all W208 CLK430's come with the AMG kit as standard over in the US? Could you have ordered one without the kit?

I'm curious cause what gave MB the right to sell a particular non AMG model with AMG kit? That was just wrong! The real AMG's should be the only models wearing the AMG kit, no other model should!

BMW sells M kits but they are not the same as the M models. You would have to purchase the M5 body parts to fit an E60 to look like an M5. Cause the M kit on the E60 was not identical to the M5 kit!

People are constantly b*tching about a silly badge! These MB cars should not wear the AMG parts at all if the engine is not an AMG one! SIMPLE!!!

its AMG appearance package , almost all models not just clk can come with it if it was ordered that way but even S430 can come with AMG sport package in which the body looks indentical to s55 .
I seen s550 with AMG skirts and AMG badge looks awsome and $50k less then S63
i guess when ppl dont mind paying the $5k instead of 15-20K more for the real thing the makers dont care unless they are selling as many as possible

MB does not put the AMG badge on unless it is a true AMG. If some dealerships, used car sales people, or wannabees put a logo onto the car to make it "look good" (ricer)...that's their business. But they are still Posers and that's what this great thread is all about.

I'm not sure about that sir, many years ago there was this same argument here in a particular thread. Where a member posted a link to an official Mercedes Benz site that had a picture of a C320 with an AMG badge on the right!

Wow.
I drive a c230k, that being said I'm not going to put AMG badges and pretend like i'm hot **** on a stick. But, modifications on a c230k can be done right and tastefully. Personally I feel like non-amg cars that have tasteful mods or are just done right deserve a little more respect. I worked my *** off in high school to buy my dads c230k and worked my *** off changing parts and maintaining the car ( it has a little over 120,000 miles on it and the engine runs smoother than the 1.8 that replaced it a year later). There is a definite distinction between younger merc drivers who know what they are doing and don't. An AMG is something you earn in my opinion. After all it's probably good that there's posers out there they give me something to laugh at.

One thing that is even worse than posers are spoiled teenagers who have AMG cars. The other day I was driving and I pulled up next to a bleach blonde ***** in a c55. Yea the posers suck, but what is even worse is the people who don't deserve AMG's. Sorry for the rant

Hi Pintobean,

It's nice to hear from someone who really loves their AMG.

In addition, it must be satisfying to know that you have put in the hard work to be able to say that this car is truly yours.

So, because she was a bleach blonde she didn't "deserve" her AMG? I don't get it..What makes her a *****? It sounds like you're a little bitter that the blonde chick had the AMG and you had the hatchback 230k. You "deserve" something when you work hard for it and earn it, if you or any posers don't like the numbers on the back of your Benz, WORK A LITTLE HARDER.

Wow man, you're so full of sh*t I dont even know where to begin.

First, there is a definite distinction for people of ALL ages. Some will be better than others naturally. You don't have to be old to know what you're doing

Who are you to judge someone based on what they drive when you don't even know the person? Everybody comes from different backgrounds, different financial situations, and for you to come in like call her a "bleach blonde *****" because she has an AMG...wow bitter much?

I've spoiled myself with an AMG, and I'm still a fairly young guy. I guess that makes me the "black haired pimp"

If you think someone who owns a C300 rebadged to C63 + 6.3L posing intentionally is worse than someone who doesn't deserve AMG's based on your biased opinion....then you've got some major issues buddy.

You guys are BOTH right. MB the company will NEVER badge an AMG on a non-AMG car unless the car was tuned by AMG.

However, a lot of the dealerships will slap the badge on simply because it has the AMG sports package on.

https://mbworld.org/forums/general-m...-amg-cars.html

I'm pretty sure you dont understand what the term "ricer" means though...

Slapping an AMG badge on the right of the trunk is not a big deal. When AMG parts are installed on a car that sets it apart from the regular base models, badging it ain't a big deal.

The badge on the left is what tells you what's under your hood!

Simple!

MBflo...whatever are you implying?..."I work 7 days a week manual labor"??

Getting back on topic, if a dealership or an individual tacks an AMG badge onto anything other than an AMG produced car, they are just kidding themselves and/or their customers...sorry. Ahmed, the same goes for your your statement that the AMG on the right is no big deal.....the two go together. The car is either an AMG produced car or it's not. Trim packages don't make it an AMG.

I love this thread!
