The engine in my CL55 is basically a de-tuned version of the engine in the SLR McLaren so according to what i am going to call "CTravis' theory of transitive association" i own an SLR McLaren!

This total makes sense to me now, I'm going to go order the SLR badges for my car right away, hell i might even throw a 722S on the side for good measure

you forgot the vital slr logo on the tach and the doorsills man!! you obviously don't have an slr without the tach logo!!!!!!!

....you didn't even know what a limited slip differential is . you saw a thread with a vid of a posi trac car and thought it had drivetrain issues ahahahahah

your opinion is invalid (considering we'll probably see you pull another "wait wait wait i thought blah blah blah im not very smart and you were right all along" post in a few pages i thought i "wasn't worth your time" and you were finished posting when i struck a nerve the first time?

Quite a feat Travis but no matter what you say bottom line your car is still a CL500 with a drop in engine of a CL55. The day you sell it, if ever will be realization day the car is not a numbers matching AMG. Enjoy the fruits of your labour and drive your sleeper.

it's an amg in my eyes and it's my car so i don't see what the issue is lol

i'm just trying to explain there are extremely few (and trivial) differences between my car and an amg for the ignorant individuals who don't know anything about cars in the first place

edit; if i did ever decide to selll my car then i would have absolutely no problem letting them know it didn't roll out of the factory as an amg. but since i actually know about these cars i can clearly point out in person that the components that make seperate the cl500 from the cl55 have been removed and upgraded. not that i would sell my baby in the first place.....

That is hilarious, this one reminds me of you after you put a CL55 engine in your CL500

i understand your point. honestly i think i just like being doubted(and instigating issues) and wanted to use this thread as "mental fuel" to bore out my block, rebuild my internals and port my heads then add that weistec twin screw supercharger. i was originally looking for people to doubt that i completed the engine/tranny swap in the first place(and succeeded)

to me, my car is an amg because that's how i look at things... if you have a really nice bicycle with crappy wheels but the same company offers the same bike with aftermarket wheels but they call it their "special package", in my eyes upgrading the wheels qualifies it as the "special package" since the bikes are damn near identical.

if you guys don't agree well then that is great. i've succeeded in doing what i originally set out to do in this thread....hence my brash original post

i just have a really hard time deciphering over the internet who here actually knows what they're talking about and who doesn't. and when someone who is very ignorant on the subject (and outright "in the wrong" on some facts) SUCH AS someone who thinks "posi trac is an issue with the drivetrain..." wants to try to inform me of the differences between an amg and the stock w215 after basically rebuilding this car from the ground up, ill admit i may get slightly worked up considering this is the peak of my feats as a self taught wrench. i'm sure you guys can understand, you were 21 once before also. you probably felt invincible and had an arrogant sense of righteousness, doing things like constantly looking for arguments and purposely trying to instigate bar fights and if you didn't then ....you're probably a pansy anyways .

as you can tell, i enjoy arguing and take great pride in my car as im sure you would feel the same if you were me. you can tell by when i entered this thread, boasting of my homemade amg concoction, in a thread called "amg posers" that when i said everyone can suck on my nuts (to a bunch of people who paid the premium(most likely just to say they have an amg)) that i was merely trying to get the better of anyone and anything just for the sake of arguing. i've succeeded in proving multiple people wrong and shut some of them up in the process. and it takes two to tango so you can only blame yourselves for stooping to my level

hey man, i'm just barely catching up with this thread lol. pretty amazing that you did the engine swap yourself, something not a lot of people can do, let alone anyone around our age. and if anyone our age would be doing it, it would be on a crappy civic or something lol. you started with a cl500 and took a cl55 engine and threw it in. no f*cks given, but in a good way. haha.

I guess it's just all about where you post. maybe a thread used to make fun of non-amgs isn't really the best place to put your car lol. there's always gonna be something tiny that'll make your car different from an amg, whether it's door sills or tail light bulb sockets or floor mats. like how everyone on here (myself included) tries to talk some sense into the members that think that amg wheels and body kit make them an amg. they tell him that it's not an amg because (the biggest part) it's not an amg engine. but guess what? you have that. so the only things you have to worry about are the small cosmetic details. but what sucks is that it wasn't bought as an amg, so it can't be one. people will always have that to say about your car, no matter where you go or what you do to it. so just enjoy the beast that you have and call it your own

again, much respect for the build dude.

its a ferrari you idiot

but really- i call it the cl55 "homemade" amg if that pulls the wedgie out of your crack at all

edit: if the model designations didn't specifically refer to the engine size then i'd still call it a cl500 but that doesn't really make any sense...so suck it!

Poser or not why would anyone care what labels someone else adds to or removes from their car. Serious conformity issues around here. Get a better hobby.
