AMG posers
I don't really get this mentality Iyeoh... I wouldn't consider most cars here "hacked up used cars" there are a lot of very nice Mercedes-Benz vehicles on this forum that people put quite a bit of money and passion into new or used. Doesn't matter. It truly does not make a difference what you drive as long as you have a love for it and respect it, modding it is the same way. If we were in a bunch of 458s or F12s there would always be the guys with the LaFerraris out there, if we were in the LaFerraris there would always be the guys with the collections of every Ferrari built out there as well. There will always be nicer cars on the road. There will always be faster cars on the road. MBWorld isn't some ricer forum I think we are passionate here (even with dissenting opinions) because we all have a love for the Mercedes-Benz marquee and the level of engineering, luxury, performance, and a rich 127-year history spanning all continents that the brand offers. And at the end of the day, it is still much ado about nothing. It's a bunch of owners of 5 year old to 10 year old cars (including myself) hyped up about some stupid $30 badge because of this self-inflated view of a brand called AMG.
When I look at a guy slapping on the badge, I laugh it off and move on. I don't get into a hissy fit. The gentleman in question has a hacked up 11 year old car. Let him put on his silly EBay-ed badge.
Just this past weekend, I chewed out a kid about to vandalize a car with an illegitimate AMG badge. That was totally uncalled for. I told the kid that, AMG or not, the kid has car with a market value of $20K. The car he was about to vandalize cost $140K. Nobody has any right to place stickers or tape papers on anyone's trunk, and I told the kid the cops are on the way if he does not leave immediately.

You mean if I stick an engine from an SL65 Black Series into my 190E, my car will not be an AMG???? OMG all that time and effort wasted.. and I don't get to call my car an AMG?????
I think I'm gonna go rant on everyone now! Cause you hurt my feelings!!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Its pretty straight forward.
Lmao even if I went out and bought 5 amg's I wouldn't give two ****s about the no girls allowed amg club ahahahaha
If anything, I consider a lot of you guys posers for driving performance oriented cars yet lacking any kind of ability to utilize them. Let alone the fact that most of you "men" would have an extremely hard time changing your oil lmao
edit: to me, amg is about performance. not silly internet clubs that wreak of elitism and narcissism lol. hence my original post telling everyone to suck my nuts
the funny thing is, i actually have that amg performance, just like you do. sucks doesn't it!

edit: my comments about amg owners don't really pertain to any and all amg owners, just the people on a high horse in this thread who think they actually know anything about these cars to begin with lol. they don't get why i put an amg badge on my homemade amg model and i don't get why they don't all drive nice buicks or something of the like...

What I dont understand is why you would spend more money buying the car and parts to convert it to an amg when it would have been cheaper to buy an amg car...and dont bother wasting your time trying to say I cant turn a wrench. Theres a good chance ive worked on, and done things to cars you wouldnt be able to wrap your head around.
All I would like to see is an increase in your level of maturity. Sure everyone likes a good joke but if you continue going around acting like the pregnant teenage president of the avenge seven fold fan club the moderators have my full support in a ban. Im surprised it hasnt happened already.

instead i'll revert back to one of my earlier remarks since it clearly applies in this situation... the reasoning behind the engine swap has not only been discussed (numerous times) but the financial factor has also been explained (numerous times), but let me break it down some more-
the 02 cl55 models are going used for around 16-18k with reasonable mileage
the 02 cl500 models are going for for 10-12k with reasonable mileage
now let me entertain your type of logic, considering the engine cost 2,000
10k plus 2k = 12k for the amg model
i'm no rocket scientist but i can only assume 12k is a lot less than 16-18k

even though the transmissions are extremely similar between the cl500 and the cl55, i even went as far as spending another 1,000 on the amg transmission
and even though my math skills have greatly improved since the beginning of this post, i still don't think 13k is more then 16k-18k
the only problem is, i would need to spend that extra 3-5k so i can finally get into the amg private lounge ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
you say you know a lot about cars but if you did then you'd know doing an engine swap isn't as expensive as a lot of people think. if you recall correctly, now i have an extra 02 cl500 engine loaded with parts, same with the 02 cl500 transmission, loaded with parts. if i really wanted to make a point i could break down this engine and probably make back that 2k i spent on the engine
and on that note i could also fix the transmission and sell it for 1k to pay for the amg transmission
i'm getting bored, next in line please?
this statement makes lots of sense considering you came into a thread with literally 20 pages of me bickering with people and then continued to try to bring up irrelevant points against a 21 year old, honestly what were you expecting? did you think i was gonna say OH WOW YOU OPENED MY EYES

let's be real, this thread is incredibly off topic to begin with and belongs in an off topic section. it's kinda hard to apply the typical rules enforced on this forum considering we're way out of the intended use of this forum to begin with
shouldn't a thread like this belong somewhere like the private lounge anyways? only makes sense lol

comparing my amg swap to a nissan ls1 swap?

who in their right mind would consider a nissan a chevy after an engine swap? you're absurd if you really think i would call a nissan a chevy after a ls1 swap. the cl500 and the cl55 are identical cars, just different engine/transmission/brakes. you're comparing it to someone doing a swap in something not even from the same country, let alone the same manufacturer
and again your logic is flawed in the sense that just like you talked down for your car, you could also talk down the cl500 owner to 7-8k for their car.
so really i could get a w215 amg for 10 grand with your logic....sounds like a great deal for someone who knows what they're doing!
edit:i'm actually starting to really doubt you've done anything to a car that i "couldn't wrap my head around"...

very interesting how you came into this thread, in attempts to make a point that has been brought up numerous times, and now all of the sudden feel like throwing in the towel...
next in line please!!

I am fortunate enough to own two "VIN" AMG's. Does that make me a better person?...absolutely not. Does that mean I can drive them to their limits? ...God I wish so.
Do I look down on someone that slapped an AMG badge wherever the hell he pleases? ...HELL NO! ....I take it as a compliment.
Fact is, cars guys are the same regardless of what they choose to drive.
