According to the folks with the AMG Owners Group in Germany, I asked that questions years ago and was advised:

""The “CLK 55 Coupé” {C 208.374} was built 3.381 times between October 1999 and May 2002"

LOL they couldn't finish the 4th one. I hope they didn't turn loose the .381 finished one.

Depends on what you expect. Better speakers make a difference but crossovers are king. Both would be the best. Cheap speakers with excellent crossovers is what you get with Bose. In my w124's I went with MB quarts, coaxials in the 300E and seperates in the 500E.
It really makes a difference to decide how far you will ultimately go with the system. At min, w. your factory head unit, I would drop a pair of 4 inch coaxes with filler plates or the rainbows (coaxes also but drop in) in the front with some bass blockers on them.
I don't have the bass blockers because I have adjuastable three way crossovers with the speakers and electronic crossovers in my head unit and amps.
Most people would disagree, but I would swap a great head unit in first. That's where everything starts from, IE garbage in, garbage out.
My second would be the front speakers. But it don't make much difference. Is there actually a problem with the speakers?

Driver's side speaker is completely worn out/busted. My sister a/k/a Santa Claus was wondering what she could get me.

It would be nice to just tell her "order a pair of XYZ, model # 123" from a website and have them sent to me. Then, you can put them in. I'm sure Mike already mentioned it, but I've got no reception since the antenna is stuck down.

It will make for a really quiet trip to Nashville on Wednesday. GAWD I hope the cassette player works. It's that or I take da CLK.

hey how ya'll just gonna thread jack me and start talking about speakers and stuff. You guys are so ruuuuuuuuuuuude!!! I would suggest MB Quart as well if you have deep pockets. Infinity's are nice too. But definately get a Audio Control 3.1 to get the best sound out of everything!

As far as I can tell that is a discontinued model, I believ that is what I had in the 300E.
Here's some links to their site and current model any of these should be fine.

well I just wanted to start off with the usual mods - wheels, lowering kit, intake, exhaust...u know the basics just to get a lil more out of whats already there stock. Eventually I may look into some NOS if its safe to do so with the stock tranny. I'll probly get some wheels next month after all the xmas spending is done.

I did receive my trunk lip spoiler in the mail already...also looking to get the roof spoiler but $400 is ridiculous.
