Debadging the CLK AMG

Did anyone debadge their AMG? I was thinking about debadging the CLK55 AMG. Not sure if I want to do that though..

Personal choice. At least its not like you are adding badges that don't belong. I like the idea of the clean look with no badges, but I love the AMG badge too much to part with it. If you take off the badges let us see. Take some pics. Good luck.

I debadged my CLK 55. I like the clean look personally. Plus you also get that stealth-sleeper look too. Someone who really knows an AMG will look else where to deteremine AMG or not, i.e steering wheel, gauges, seats, brakes, exhaust and tire smoke... I'll post some pics for you guys

i like the attention i guess. people see my car and say nice mercedes, then they see the AMG badge and stop to take a second look. it is definitely pretty cool. i have always had tuner cars but none of them have ever gotten the attention my CLK 55 AMG gets.

Are you serious? You get lots of second looks on your CLK AMG?? I know I'll get a badgering but you know what guys, the AMG doesn't look that much different from the CLK 500's!

taking off the badges cleans it up quite a bit for how little effort it takes.

For acknowledgement, you can paint it body color and get the same look.

I painted my matte black so it stands just a tad over body color.

I don't think I get even first looks around here. I am positive I have the only clk55 in this dried little one-horse town and most likely the only clk at that. This town has a population of about 30,000, but most of the cars here are pick-ups with lots of red mud on the fenders.

on my last car, I had all the badges removed. I even went as far to have the front and back bumpers shaved and filled in, as well as the fender badges. I most likely will take the badges off the CLK55 also, but wont do any shaving of the bumpers.

if you want to COMPLETELY debadge the rear trunk area, plan to spend some good money, as when you take off the mercedes star, there will be 3 holes that will need to be filled in. Then you need to consider either respraying the entire trunk lid, or just blending the paint in......

I debadged the entire trunk. It's a cleaner look in my opinion.

tc1728,

How did your 2005 GTO (as pictured) compare in performance to your CLK55? Thanks in advance.

wow!!! thats the ***** right there. thats exactly what i did to my GTO, I debadged the whole thing and filled in the holes in the trunklid, fenders, and front bumper. I didn't think it would look good on a benz, but you just changed my mind. really nice OPALW208 . now if only I can find a front grille without the mercedes star... TC

stock for stock, the GTO was faster till about 90mph or so, but then the top end on the CLK pulls harder. The CLK in stock form has a slight edge on the GTO. But my GTO was not stock. I spent about $4k on Pedders/eibach/hotchkis/koni suspension parts and another $10k on the engine. Final numbers before I sold it was 488hp and 515trq to the wheels

tc1728,

Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear from those who have modified their cars and can also compare competive cars. Sorry to hear you sold the GTO.

I loved that GTO, but I had to sell it. It was not gonna last much longer, lol I already blew the transmission once and with all the nitrous I was feeding that LS2 it was a matter of time before the engine took a crap on me too. But that was a really fun car
