Correct. Throughout the model years, the C55, SLK55 and CLK55 engines are all the normally aspirated versions of the engines found in the E55, CL55, CLS55, SL55, etc.

Quote: Good info. I'm actually replacing my resonator with a y-pipe tomorrow (for sound and weight saving), do you think there is any performance to be gained by switching my stock secondary cats to race cats or even deleteing them completely? I have kleemann headers and eisenmann race muffler. TIA
Bro you're killin me but I'll tell you again.

If you delete your secondary cats you will throw a CEL. You will be freeing up some power by replacing the stck 400cell secondary cats with some higher flowing Stainless Steel 200cell cats.

PS I will be replacing my stck muffler though with this:

http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...f75d53ca32b94e

in all black or this in stainless steel:

http://www.prostreetonline.com/pnsku/vib-1043.asp

to reduce the weight that the stck AMG muffler leaves me with.

Quote: lets be honest, we all wish that our cars had a supercharger. 500HP and 500+TQ in a car that weighs 3500-3800lbs. that would be almost CLK DTM level

btw, the W209 look way better than ppl give them credit for.
The W208 is a classic body style that will last forever. I only hope the W209 can come close to that. But it will never look better than the W208. I've had both body styles so I know.
Don't get me wrong. I still love my W209.

I love my 208!!! The aggressive body lines and the stout squared up trunk does it for me. I also like the newer bodied 209s. Its a toss up both great looking cars with amazing power!!!! Quick question though. Isn't the stock exhaust system diameter 2.5"? Where would I be able to find some 200 cell high flow cats? Does any one recommend stepping up to a 3" system from the the "Y" back vs. the stock system.

I just replaced my resonator and secondary cats on my W208 CLK55 with a Y pipe and have yet to throw a CEL... I only have about 30 miles on the new setup though.

Where did you get the y-pipe?

krispyw208- after the resonator it is 3" piping back to the muffler

Carl- My muffler is an eisenmann race muffler which is supposed to be lighter than the AMG.

I was told that the factory size on an 02 clk 55 was 2.5" not 3".

I went down to our local performance shop here in Lubbock Texas and had them weld up a dual 2.5" inlet to 3" outlet y-pipe. Cost $100 and took about 45 min.

You can also use 180 deg mandrel bends to weld up x and y pipes like this:

I have purchased bends and pipe from these guys before: http://www.magnumforce.com/ubend.asp

Before adding more power, I'd prefer to have the K2 V.2 and Quaife ATB installed....

Spend some time on a wet track and you'll see my point.

What if you already have KW v.2, Kleemann LSD, and Brembo GT front BBK?

....the obvious choice....a CL65!

I'm just getting as much seat time as possible, so as improvements are made each step allows me to excel as a driver. Frankly, my remedial skills have yet to master the stock power on tap and I'm working on car control (on street tires) before I move to significant performance improvements.

.....or just ask mbenzman to take me for a spin once in a while. $4/gal gas isn't going to make me jealous of a blower.

The W208 uses a separate spring/shock setup instead of a McPherson strut. The "coilovers" for the W208 are really just a matched shock and spring.

It's actually about 2.75 inches stck after the reso.
