Anybody got a Veloce ECU tune?

The company provides few details. Was wondering if anybody had some hard data to share?

Day 2 with Veloce ECU..morning fun.

Check out the thread with the title above. It helped me decide not to use Veloce.

Thumbs up Well, I guess we can close the book on Veloce.

That thread is hilarious. For those of you who havent already seen this you have to scroll down to post 108 for the punchline but here it is.

Zal.....Couple things happen on the way. Yes I had a baseline dyno at 416/452... with the Veloce ECU tuning, I was alitte disappointed at the number I got from what he advertise. Veloce ECU Dyno at "DRUMS BEATING"
428/462 ... I dont have the dyno sheet right now. my tech has it.
But yes I did feel a different. and it really drives good. even my MBtech likes it.
And on top of that.. the dealer reflash my ECU at service.. now I lost all my mod. lowering. 10deg fan mod. veloce tune. and I think it slower than when I brought the car....
So I never had a chance to re dyno the car again w/ green filter and cm30.

so my tech and I are debating should I sent my ECU back to Veloce to put the tune back on. that will cost me $250 for a reflash from them.. what a rip off since I paid for the tune.. all the other tuner only charge $100 for a reflash. So the question. for $250 to get back my Veloce tune or spend $1000 with Adam@evotech????
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=veloce

And here's another facial for Veloce in post 7.

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...53#post2463953

Having spent most of my career in Marketing, I was curious about a company that could promise so much and provide so little comparative data to justify their product, particularly at the ridiculous price I was quoted just to reprogram my ECU. These guys are clearly winging it, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. And good luck selling those "distributorships" in this economy!

BTW, I'm either going with a Kleeman ECU/Pulley or just a Powerchip ECU tune. I like Powerchip, I have experience with them on two Rovers and they deliver both performance and economy. OR, I may just dump this piece of crap and buy a motorcycle.

Thanks Timeless....question.

I see you're in Carolina, Stealth in California. Any reason you went to an aftermarket company vs. directly to Powerchip for your upgrade?

Aaron with Stealth took care of all my questions and helped me out with some shipping so I never bothered to see if Powerchips worked directly with the public...they have a dealer network so I doubt they do.

Trust me when I tell you that Aaron will treat you right. Was a breeze to remove the ECU and ship it overnight and then they will ship it back to you overnight. All you need to let them know is what octane you will be running and any mods you have on the car.

Hope this helps!

OK, thanks.

I got to admit, I feel more comfortable going this route. Powerchip had me ship them my ECU out of my last truck ....they may have forwarded it to a dealer but I dont know....their customer service was fantastic, and if they can do what they did for a 6000lb truck then I'm pretty sure they can help me...also told me I shouldnt need the pulley.

SpeedTunningUSA ECU

I chose the SpeedTunningUSA ECU Upgrade, in which I raised the redline to6500, advanced the timing to require 94 octane & removed speed limitation of 155 mph. I assume the ECU is comparable to other ECU tunning since they really can't do to much. The price was right though at $350. Here is my review links:

That is a very good price. Hope it works out for you. I had PowerChips do the same except I have 93 Octane here and everyone says that the E55 does not produce anymore power over I believe the 6200RPM stock setting...so raising it to 6500 is a waste.

My reason for raising the RPM from 6000 to 6500 was not based on HP but on performance at the track (road course not 1/4 mile). Basically, with this modification, I can hold a gear longer without having to shift or having the car automatically shift. This is very useful between gears 1 to 3- which are the gears you use at the track. 4th gear really doesn't come up for use.

For example, when I tested my car with the ECU modification: 1st gear maximum speed was 50 mph at 6,400 RPM; 2nd gear maximum speed was 80 mph at 6,400 RPM; 3rd gear maximum speed was 122 at around 6,400 RPM.

In short, if you have to shift on a corner or for any other reason before you need to, you can lose valuable time. Raising the RPM level helped me stay in a gear longer without bouncing of the rev limiter or forcing a shift.

Seems you would just use the M transmission setting at the track and not even worry about letting the car do the shifting.

That is correct, I do use the manual mode but the point is to stay in a gear as long as possible and not have to shift. If you are bumping off the redline that is a problem. That is the reason for raising the RPM.

If you have any questions...feel free to call us.

I happened to run across this thread and noticed some critics. Unfortunately, I or my staff don't recall speaking to any of these people.

As far as reflashing goes. The first one is no charge, and it is stated in our warranty. The person who made the claim of a first reflash charge of $250 does not look like one of our clients, nor did they ever contact us.

As far as data goes, there are several dynos floating around here that were done independently by our clients. I'll attach a thread. There are also a number of threads from satisfied clients.

We are a young company, but as an owner of an AMG, as well as a number of other makes that we tune our object is to provide great work and better customer service. PM sent. I believe that we gave you dealer pricing (even through you aren't a dealer). The first free reflash is for retail clients and franchised dealers. If there is any confusion, feel free to contact me.

You're 100% correct. After 6200 rpms or so power considerably drops off. On vehicles like the BMW M3 and M5 raising the limiter by 200-300rpms may help but that's the extent of it.
