Yeah....the empty buttons on each far side are the heated seats I believe. Also the empty button next to ESP should be the rear window sunshade.

Also you are getting confused. Its not really 16 buttons. If the top button is being used (i.e. the rear headrest button) then the bottom button does nothing.

It's to remind you of all the optional functions you didn't buy. IMHO its the ugliest feature of the CLK interior. I like the way the 208 and other models used different face plates for different option combos.

That's why I got the wood trim package. Much more expensive looking. Immediately I disliked the fake aluminum even though I am tech look fan. How much money or weight did they save by using that crap instead of real aluminum, which is an oxymoron because aluminum is really fake steel.

The buttons on the far lower right and far lower left are for the ventilated seats option. The heated seat buttons referenced earlier are above them.

That's not exactly true. If you have heated and ventilated seats the bottom button is the ventilation button-

Lol you need to improve your writing!!

Anyways, I'm wondering, if there's a way to get buttons from MB and have them working for custom stuff? i.e. on/off switch for a laser jammer or something like that

No, they are multiplexed on the CAN/MOST bus, so it will be very difficult.

You can buy the complete switch panel and all will work except the features that you don't have.

Everything looks good in the picture. I still don't think the CLK had ventilated seats. Does someone have this option? Can you post a pic of the buttons? Anyways the rest of the buttons should be blank. They don't have a function. They stay blank.

The Australian market "new CLK..." book I have shows two Towing buttons, with one below the button flagged above. The top one is "on" and the bottom one is "off" as far as I can tell.

How about active cruise control? The EPC shows a grill for that option.
