CLK 55 AMG 2005 and CLK 63 AMG cab.2007 - 2009 EVO - 2013 ML63 AMG - 2018 G63 AMG
2005 CLK55 AMG or 2007 CLK550 Coupe
Wondering which to choose... Coupe only
I guess the AMG have better parts and even if the 550 is
20hp more is not better.
What do you think guys?
what to buy.

Buy the 05 CLK55, it is a very low production car with only 247 units sold in the USA vs. XXXX probably for the 07. It will hold its value over time better than the 07. You'll feel better driving an AMG car and you won't notice the 20hp difference.

Completely different. The CLK55 motor is actually a 5.4 Liter, with 24 Valves and SOHC. The CLK550 motor is a 5.5 Liter, with 32 Valves and DOHC. Mods for the CLK55 revolve commonly around the airbox, filters, headers, pulley...along with an ECU tune. Since this motor has been around since '01, there are quite a bit more upgrade options for it. Test drive both, and see which you personally prefer.

I forgot to add cams to the list. These are not cheap cars to squeeze more power out of, which is the negative. As for power gains, a rough estimate would be in the lower end of the 400 crank horsepower range.

Add a blower....that the only way you're going to get 350whp without Nitrous.

03 CLK 55 AMG, IMCO muffler/Magnaflow tips, KW V1 coilovers, 19" Petrol Metrix Wheels
definitely go with the 55. there are lots of people who drive Mercedes. AMG's just offer a little exclusivity.

AMG CLK 55 all the way. You get so much more for your money.
AMG is so much more than just an engine upgrade.
Engines are 80+ % rebuilt at the AMG factory balanced and blue printed.
HP numbers are understated by the factory. The AMG 5.4 motor put out much closer to 400 HP than the stated 342-362 HP. I have seen it done in Affalterbach.
Engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, seats, guages, wheels & tires.
The list goes on and on.
BUY AMG you will very happy.!!!
