W211 E55
E55 owner with CLK envy :)
I was reading a bit through the CLK forum, and I was left with the impression that the CLK55 is possibly the best-looking series MB in the last 10 years.
The car has a pronounced stance, and small cosmetic mods add to the evil quotient....rims, tint, BAM ! Bad*** ride.
It doesn't hurt that the thing moves, too.
Pre-facelift, post-facelift....it matters little. They both look great.
[sigh]
I guess I can always console myself with my Kompressor...

Chicago-
It goes both ways. I have always wanted a W208 style since it came out. I fell in love with the CLK55, and I also like the W209, and may be moving towards that or an SL.
I agree the 208 model looks great. I get compliments all the time on it, and even to the point where some think its like a 75k plus Benz..or its like an 05 model or recent. I have minor cosmetic upgrades besides the rims, new grill, chrome rings, and always fairly clean.
This body DOES need the clear type headlights and maybe clear rear lights as well. The 211 and newer style will make it look dated when you compare them to the "foggy" lenses...
Lastly, the interior does seem dated compared to the 209 and other models. I have the wood wheel, and chrome shiftknob but I guess just the layout and surrounding pieces I find myself wanting more or longing for an interior from a newer model..
Cant complain though- I think the two door really helps this body style stay more current...in the end- side by side I think the E55 does look a bit more updated then either CLK.

MBWorld Fanatic!
.....but it sure is purdy.
The road course is another matter....driving my stock CLK55 back-to-back with a Kleemann CL65....the significant weight advantage helps the CLK in superior braking and in 'the twisties'. As soon as the track straightens out, I kiss my butt goodbye.

I concur... An AMG is an AMG. From the C36 to the CLK63 BS, I think many are content. The 208 is still a handsome ride, and it ages gracefully just like the many other or older AMG cars.

Out Of Control!!
The W208 is my favorite mercedes body style. Of course I would take a CLK DTM or a SL65 over my car but I am very happy with my current ride (besides wanting more power lol).
If you really want one you can pick one up for relatively cheap since we know how well AMG's hold their value!
