How much did you pay for Lowering Sping Inst.
I just got a quote from local shop to swap my spring to HnR w/ Alignment for 700
...I think its a ripe!!
what did you guys pay?
leaves $550 for the spring swap. that's way too steep, unless I'm oversimplifying
the task. you have separate springs and shocks and RWD, right?

i had my car aligned at the MB dealership and it was only $120. Installing springs is about a four hour job. Most of the labor is on the front. I think the average for labor rates right now is somewhere around $100/hour. So you should expect to pay between $400-500 before taxes. $700 is definitely a rip-off. Find yourself another shop.

the W208 is very similar to that on the w202 and W210s with RWD, i.e. springs
and shocks each in their own perch. as such, it can be done quite easily with
standard Klann type, pancake style spring compressor.
as an example, I swapped out both front springs in less than 45 mins. rears
are even quicker. but it's not a speed event, rather an indication of their
low degree of difficulty. i seem to be obsessive about getting just the right
tire/fender gap so am quite familiar with the routine.

that's how much it cost me for spring compressors at pepboys.
My cousin and I did both of our CLK 500's in about 4 hours. Just takes a willingness to learn and some common sense.
the first car took about 3 hours the second about 1 hour, (learning curve)
