Opinion on 03 CLK 55?

2003 CLK55 93K miles 5 year /100K miles extended warranty. $19K + $2K (tax + registration etc).

Is this a good deal? I don't like the 93K miles fact

Thanks,

too many miles in my opinion. i think you can spend about $6-7,000 more and get a car with much lower miles.

Thanks,
Well I bought my 04 CLK 55 AMG with 63k miles for a total price of $27K (No warranty) Yeah I know....Yikes! For your car, the mileage is up there so if I were you I would weigh the cost differential for the warranty vs. what parts would need to be replaced at 100k miles. 18,600 miles avg. per year is not a lot of miles....so that seems about right. Now, the question is how many owners drove the car? What type of miles...highway or hard street driven? These are the kinds of questions I'll be asking because a young knuckle head like I once was, driving a car like this would be hard driven...hittin corners on the street as opposed to an older mature weekend driven; only car. Good luck with your decision and I hope this helps.

No offense absolutely to anyone who has a 2003+ CLK55, but I would stay with the 2002 with a warranty. The only reason is that the 2003+ is 200 pounds heavier and only has 20 more horsepower, which doesn't make up for the weight, so the car is slower.

Uhhh...slower? I think not. Now had you said EQUALLY as fast then that would be fair but to blutantly state that it is slower is down right incorrect and you'll have other W209 owners responding to your statement soon....

Edit: I won't retract this. There's no reason to argue 200lbs > 20hp. Go do the research and figure it out yourself.

This has been gone over before. It is not THAT much slower, but a few 10th's to 60 and in the 1/4 mile.
So basically what you're saying is a few 10ths of a second faster justifies getting a W208 over a W209? Why even bother giving advice if your going to be this bias toward a W208 over a W209? haha....I find this very funny. What it all boils down to is his preference of vehicle which is subjective anyway. I wonder why he wants a W209??? Maybe a W208 was not an option. One last thing, if he's going to be modded the car...adding performance gains, then would a few 10ths of second matter at all? Just a thought. No pun intended Brad, just defending my W209 as I think it is better looking than the W208. It is sleek and not boxy looking like the W208. Again, this is subjective and my opinion.

Milage is way too high. Spend some extra cash and get a low mile car. My car has only 39K miles on it and I bet I couldn't get much more for it.

Ok he was asking for our advise regarding the purchase of a vehicle, not about your personal preference about which car to get.
And you are just going to stand behind whatever you say about the w209obviously because you own a 208.So please just stop right there.makes no sense.

I'd say the mileage is a bit high. I've heard these cars can go 200k if well maintained. If you're serious, make sure you can get a detailed history of the car (# of owners etc).
But I'd keep looking if I were you. I looked at 3 CLK's before buying mine and with each one I was real indecisive and posting here a bunch. Once I found the one I just bought I knew it was the right car instantly. If you're patient you will find you're dream car.
Problem with CLK55's is they aren't abundant on the used market...but that's what makes them great too I probably see 1 on the road a month and I live in a large metro city.

Good luck!

CLK 55 AMG
I got my 04 CLK 55 AMG with 46K Miles for a bit lower than $26.8K. The dealer I bought it from was not a Mercedes dealership and so they thought it had no warranty. You need to know that Mercedes has a factory 4 Year/50K Miles Warranty regardless of who owns it. I have about half a year of warranty and it has already saved me a few times. It is suppose to be cheaper to extend the warranty while you are in warranty too...

Way too many miles: you're going to have to start fixing too many things too soon...and we all know how pricey these babies are to take care of!

that's a good deal,
93k is just breaking in for a Mercedes.
people these days are too used to trading in a car early, scared of 100k, spending tens of thousands for "upgrading" their vehicle instead of spending hundreds in maintenance or repairs.

2002 CLK55
I am a w208 (2002) owner nut I actally like the looks of the w209 a little more. When it came down to it I could get a low mileage w208 for the same price as a high mileage w209 so I went with the low miles. Either way, I think its a buyers market now with less than 20 mpg in these cars + the recession. You should have a lot of room to negotiate. I got free shipping to NY from FL. Good luck! Both cars are rare and a lot of fun.
