Next vehicle...need your opinion
I have a 2 YO son and my wife and I are in the process of adopting a 2nd child. Our vehicles are not very conducive for multiple children so I am thinking about selling the CLK and my hybrid for the following:
1. 2005 G55 AMG
2. 2008 GL450
3. 2009 Toyota Sequioa 5.7 (I will secretly slip in the TRD supercharger that will give me around 500hp's at the crank and a 5.5 second 0-60!)
I will be driving my wife's car (again) but it's a sacrifice that I will gladly make for the kids. Here are my concerns:
1. G55 AMG - the cost of service and parts for the long haul, no 3rd row seats, 11 MPG
2. GL450 - no serious issues I can think of other than the soccer mom stigma
3. Toyota - it's not a Mercedes!
This is probably going to happen in around 6 months to 1 year from now but it's good to be prepared. Your thoughts and comments are more than welcome.

If the GL comes in a bluetec consider that too. If I were stuck with the 3 choices then go with the GL450. I'd also look at a Escalade Hybrid...the only problem with that is surprisingly space is still an issue on the non XL version and I'm not sure if the hybrid comes in XL form.

Caveat: I understand the concept of owning I truck. But after doing a cost / benefit analysis (which is code for I'd personally hate every second of owning a truck) I can't envision buying one. But hey, everyone's different.
If I NEEDED four doors, and they were going to be used, I'd get an E500. Before buying anything, I'd have to know how often four people have to be in the car. If it's maybe once or twice during the week and the weekends, I'd buy a minivan and keep the CLK. If it's hauling kids everyday, the E-ticket. An MB lease turn in w/100K CPO warranty.

Why not buy something inexpensive and used and keep the toys. unless you really want a big SUV. if i had to buy something with three rows i would look at the Acura MDX. resale is good and power is not that bad either.

I really like the new sequoia its probably the most practical money and purpose wize.
I also like the G, thats a tough one. Although price wize sequoia would be less G is a benz at the end of the day, interior is much better, and will satisfy your luxury buds more.
but if you just need the space and something to get the job done well I think the sequioa will do more than fine. Also there is more mod potential for the sequioa since it shares motors with the tundra. I dont think you could go wrong either way. Also

Here is the link to the Toyota TRD test by Edmunds (the damn truck ran a 13.3 1/4!)

01 CLK55 AMG, 2011 Honda Accord (for the wife) 97 Suburban (for the camp trailer), 97 SL600 (for me)
I say keep the CLK and buy a used Suburban. Works for me.

You can *steal* R Classes right now..
Buddy of mine (who, trust me, is far from being a wimp) just picked up an '06 R500, loaded, for $28K with one owner, low mileage. That thing is *nice*, rides like an S-Class, and was originally $65K. And it's got waaaay more room than either ML (which we have) or GL (which a good friend has).

I forgot about the R...That is a great ride! We have a A class in the Philippines and we love that so the R should be exponentially better. I actually like the exterior look! Around here (Tampa) I don't see many at all driving around (moreso the ML or GL), so it is a nice to see something different.

One alternative choice to an SUV..... and still have a sporting/fun car, is either an Audi S4 wagon, or an E55 wagon.
Very stealth, and very fast.... and there is plenty of room for the kids and stuff!

I love the E55 and the E63 wagon. They are rare and the ultimate Q-ship but I think we will need the cargo space of an SUV. It's amazing how much crap a kid requires!
