Navigation and watching tv
I did it for three reasons. One, for the sake of completeness of Command. I like to push all the buttons! In Europe TV was available on CLKs and E class but not C class. A little snob appeal, and not many people ordered this option.
Two, so that I could hook up a DVD player, which Julio has done a nice job of mounting in the trunk. DVD audio and DVD video open up the ICE possibilities nicely.
Three, to use the second AV auxilliary channel to hook up to a rearview camera. SFAIK this cannot be done automatically by shifting into reverse, but push a couple of buttons and you're there. This has yet to be installed, though.
You can get more for your money by starting over with a more modern double din AV system. But I find it's fun to stick with good old Comand. Everything except the DVD player can be controlled from the steering wheel and/or dashboard - you can scroll through TV channels on the central information display just like radio stations or CD discs. Linguatronic can be told to turn on the TV (but that's all linguatronic can do, on 208s at least). All the dozens of Command buttons light up at night - cool. And the screen is so low on the dash no one notices you're watching TV or a DVD.

AMG will rent you a vehicle - you can even get a CLK 63 Black Series this year. It will cost you a thousand euros a day, but that's no worse than what the owners pay in depreciation
