For the spare tire from any CLK63 or ClK55 with the 6 piston AMG calipers. Any help or info would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Hey thanks! I did the 6 piston AMG upgrade and can't use my spare anymore. The dealers I called aren't very helpful - they insist on a VIN # to look up the part. I'm thinking can't they parts guys just walk over to their showroom? Anyways thanks again.

I wouldn't go walk and look for a vin... check eBay it's not very difficult to find one if you need it.

Well that's kind of beside the point. I think it's pathetic that some of these guys can't help look up parts without vin, if you know exactly what you're looking, and for what year and model and engine vehicle. They seem pretty helpless. If you need a new steering wheel for a 2004 CLK500, is it that diffuclt to find without a vin? Other mnfctrs don't seem to have this issue. I guess maybe it's the way their computer system is set up, but it seems like theirs a better way to do this. Most people looking for parts (for their own cars) aren't carrying their Vin number around in their wallet.

Well that's the problem with this attitude you don't know or do the job so it's just speculation. Do you honestly think they are there to give you a hard time? All parts advisors are commission based employees and need to make sales. Based on the info you gave me MB gives about 33 choices in steering wheels.

Here is a snap shot. Every number is a code that is based on the vin# that is the list goes on and on. You can also look up the parts yourself for free with http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/ Try to look up your spare tire... It's not even listed and the normal protocol for something like this is to call corporate for assistance which they will not even talk to you without a vin# I am sure it could have been explained better to you, but in my experience people don't care how you explain it to them. They just think it's "stupid" that you need a vin Also many people carry their vin it's on their insurance card. The MB catalog is by far the most difficult catalog I have ever used.

thanks for the info - you work there or something? You seem to take this a little personally.

I did say it might be the system, and you agreed the catalog is difficult. So there should be a better/easier way to do things.

And considering the parts people work on commision, I actually on second thought don't see the big deal in walking 15 seconds to a CLK to write down the VIN number. I don't know if you work there or not, but is that too much customer service too expect? I could easily go down to the showrrom, spy the part I need, write down the VIN and then walk the 15 seconds to the parts dept - but why make me drive down to do that. Too lazy? Too outside the box? Doesn't seem like a big deal to me if you're in the business of selling and service.

In any case, I did find a parts person who helped me out on the third try- And it only took him 3 minutes so it wasn't so difficult afterall. It just takes a little more effort than most are probably used too.

Here is a decent website for looking up part numbers. It takes a little work because its' a Russian website, but should be helpful:

No I don't work there, but I deal with the same thing all the time. It depends on the person attitude if I would have done it actually. If i get the person on the phone that is saying it's stupid and saying how hard is it etc I wouldn't go look for one. It's not always easy to find a car on a lot especially depending on the dealer size they might not even have one without a car ride away. Either way I wouldn't look for one anyways I would just pull it from eBay I don't know if you explained it to the parts dept that you don't have a 63 in the first place so you couldn't get a vin. Also some parts guys work by their self and cannot leave their stations leaving other customers with no one to help them and also leaving the phones unattended and do not have access to new car keys. I am glad to see that he was able to help you. He possibly has ran into the issue before and knew the answer already. I don't think anything is asking too much to help a customer the difficulty of finding the part isn't really your issue anyways you just need the part for your car and it's up to us to find it and I go out of the call of duty all the time even when I am not even going to make a sale to help people, just look at all my posts here helping people I don't mind diong it at all. Most parts guys however don't respond well when someone talks to them like that.

Well I never gave the people I talked to a hard time. Just venting on here. In any case I'm back to square one. The guy ordered me a spare wheel bolt by mistake and is still trying to find a part no. for me.

So if anyone can still help me that would be great. I looked up the other sites here (installed the epc software), but for some reason no spare tire is listed. Guess they never really need to replace them.

I also searched Ebay but there's no CLK55 (6 pot) -CLk63 spare tire on there.

well we don't have a clk63 to look at. Are you sure they even have a spare? some AMG's just have a can of tire fit in the trunk. How much space do you have for a tire? can you not fit a full size spare? Maybe another owner can look in their trunk for you and get a number off the spare and the tire size or at least confirm what type of spare it is.

Actually that's a good point. I guess I'll just run down to the dealer and look at the black series they have there. You're right, it may not have spare.
