I have kleemann headers/downpipe and my secondaries removed. Go to youtube and google my name. You can see the videos of when I had just my resonator and secondaries removed and the new videos, including hd, of the kleeman headers/downpipe installed...all using my factory amg muffler.

Its too unrefined right now since its so free flowing. I think I will put on an x-pipe to cancel out the drone and maybe put 300cell secondaries back if its still too loud/nascar-ish.

The first cat has a metal substrate. The second cat appears to have a ceramic substrate (the T409 stainless is the shell). That explains the difference in price. The number none of these guys supply is flow. If you buy the ceramic cats, you may want to ask if the box or literature has the CFM rating for the cat.

Metal substrate cats flow much better than ceramic cats. However, for a 55 NA, you only need cats that can flow 300 CFM each. Anything extra does nothing for performance.

The external tube is the same quality, metal...

the only difference is the core right?!

soo bottom line is...

Metal substrate cats 300 cell is better than

Ceramic cats 300 cell

Is the matal substrate worth buying for a 300 cell?

AMS, Can you confirm what my 07 CLK550 has? I replaced my "secondary cats" but they weren't cats, they muffler shop told me it was just a silencer. Unlike many 09 CLk550's i've seen it wasen't two bubbles mufflers, it was only one. Can you confirm if the 07's dont have secondary cats? Also..what parts do you make for the 07 CLK550? I'm interested in go fast mods

The first two are 300-cell metal core, the 2nd two are 400-cell ceramic core (they are not 300cell ceramics, that's just marketing crap. I contacted the manufacturer directly to confirm). The metal cores flow significantly better, and are much better flowing, fire up faster, and sound better as well. Go with the 300-cell metal core cats, they are both made by same manufacturer just different models.

Here are a few video clips of the AMS headers & high flow 2nd cats (nothing else has been done to the exhaust). Needless to say, you can hear the results ...

Pics of the system? I'm a bit confused... The entire exhaust system is stock, just 300-cell cats have been added and our headers (pics of the headers are on the website).

Hope that helps,

Anyone know if the primaries on the w208 are replaceable by the 300 cell cats? Maybe there is different cats that would fit better?

Thanks!

Cats on the way out. Need help !

Fellows, my '03 CLK500 has develped the noises commonly associated with the cats. A squeeze under the car on ramps, tells me that the sound nd rattling is coming from the secondary cats. I suspect they will clog soon and will cause more problems. I have read many of the posts and think that replacement with 300-cell cats is the way to go.
I bought th car new in NJ. But, moved to CA and registered in CA. I live in San Jose California and want to make sure I stay legal for smog. Any added power will obviously be welcome.
AMS, or any one, can you guys recommend parts and may be trusted exhaust place in San Jose ?
I appreciate any advice.
