I'm guessing the Pilot Sports are #1. I love Michelins but they can be priced pretty high.
Is there anything priced better that is also still a solid tire? It is for 2005 CLK55 cab?
Right now I have some Yokohama S-Drives on there (came with the car) and while the amount of tread looks OK I think there is some uneven wear since I get a slight roar on smooth pavement and the frequency is proprtional to the car speed.

I really enjoyed my Toyo T1-R as a good all around tire. The BFG G-force rocks for performance. Note that the BFG profile is a little larger than some mfr's.

Try sumitomo HTR-Z III. They grip very well dry and wet, quiet and good treadwear rating.

Goodyear Eagle F-1s are pretty good, so are the Toyos.
I've had good luck with PS2s, but they are expensive. I've also run T1Rs, Nitto555 (they were on the monoblocks I bought used), Falken RT615s (track use) and I'm trying some Pirelli Pzero Neros on my W124 wagon.
For the street/highway use, I really like both the T1Rs and PS2s.

I'm using the General Exclaim UHP's and I've been pretty pleased thus far, enough so that I put their touring tires on my daily. You can read the reviews on TireRack, they are a hell of a bang for the buck.

/\ agreed. I'm using General Exclaim right now as well. They grip well and very quiet. I dd my car and I dont always step it to the medal everytime and the tires do the job just fine.
great info. i'll read the reviews. i'm not planning on daily driving the CLK although A/C just went out on the E sedan this morning .

ExploreThese new dunlops are superb. Plus they are relatively cheap compared to the PS2's.
