Awesome Pat, did you go with the race or street? How does the weight compare to the stocker? I have been pondering some coastfab mufflers to shave an A**LOAD of weight (only 2 lbs per side, but I'm sure it would be obnoxious!)...fingers crossed for a vid

I’ll be reinstalling the system today . The system update. I removed the Magna Flow X pipe muffler, Installed a new x-pipe as close to the engine as the system would allow. I Took the little header mufflers , I had in the rear valance area , and moved them to, with-in 16" of the x-pipe. I then had some Spin Tech Mufflers built . with the outlet offset 5/8th of an inch. This was to get a straight shot to the bumper opening for the tips. More to come

Wow, that is exactly what I would like to do regarding the x-pipe, only I would like to run some High flow secondaries.

Nicely done.

Very interested in the results! Thanks for the update.

Nice work.

How's the Blue solenoid gearbox mod?

I want to do this mod also. Are the shifts jarring when crusing?

Will the faster, firmer changes happen without a TCU tune?

Blue top solenoids

I'm sure somewhere I put a post with my comments on the Blue top Solenoids. In c Mode you can not hardly tell the difference. Sport & manual Modes. The shift is firm but not bone jarring.

More exhaust Stuff

If you remember I had installed a Magna flow X-pipe muffler down near the Diff. or below the mid point & put 6" header resonators (Vibrant) at the exhaust tips & bumper area. The Exhaust was Loud & Powerful , but the Drone was a Real killer around town & low speed traffic driving. Bad enough you could not see out the Mirrors
Well I was not satisfied, I had moved the X-Pipe as close to the convergence of the exhaust pipes up by transmission . ( Good for power bad for Drone). Got rid of the X-Pipe muffler , Moved the Vibrant Resonators from the tips. Installed the Spin-Tech Mufflers to the tips at the rear . Put The Vibrant headers Mufflers In the exhaust pipe just before the Diff. The drone hardly changed enough for me , But it was reduced about 30% I'm going ALL *****.
So I searched for something that would go into the exhaust pipes after the X-pipe location to dampen the drone. I found a 3.5" OD x 3" id x 24" long tube mufflers by Stainless works. They fit in the drive-shaft well perfectly, Room for movement, This setup just about knock out all the Drone at low speed but still gives the Powerful sound at WOT!! My Guess the drone is caused by the 3" exhaust & Tail pipes. I was trying to keep the free flow exhaust , with minimum restriction. Video's coming soon
Thanks _PTEngineering

Thanks for help solving a common problem (eliminating low speed drone while still having a high flowing exhaust) Pat!

Could you provide the series/part numbers of the components you use? Specifically the Spin Tech mufflers and Stainless works tube mufflers.

Satinless Works & Spin_tech

http://www.stainlessworks.net/produc...ll-finish.html

This is for 2 1/2" Exhaust
OK lets see if I can get this right
You will need a pair of ST-252425 M
That breaks down ST = Smooth Tube / 25 = 2.5" inlet / 24 = 24' total overall length / 25 = 2.5' outlet / M = Mill finish. P = polish finish This tube has 20" of cheese grate Baffle in a spiral cut & Stainless steel Packing
Call Stainless Works 800-878-3635, Ask for Jason, Drop My Name get the mufflers with 2.5" ID on both ends , A good muffler shop can open up & trim the inlets & outlets. Attached is a Order sheet Your should look close to this one

Awesome thread. Tons of great info on here. A quick question: What material is the W209s spare tire tub made of? Is it metal or plastic?

Thanks

Spare Tire Tube & Spin Tech Mufflers

The spare tie tube is a Minlon , plastic. It has a make up of powered glass & mineral fibers. The spin tech Mufflers were the 3000 Sportsman street series Make your own section, Mine were 3.5" thick X 8.5 " Wide x 13.5" long. Center inlet and I had the outlet offset by 5/8ths"

I'm duplicating part of this quad-ex build..... what reference are you guys using to look-up and purchase the psg side factory OEM exhaust hangers?
Do I just search under clk55 with fact quad ex.... or clk63 with quad ex?

THx for sharing this project.
