Got me one of those Renntech airboxes also! +5-6rwhp/tq over the stock ones when I tested on a mustang dyno. Have you done a dyno with all your mods yet?

Cam/Intake/Tune
I have not dyno tested this car in stock form yet, OR after my 1st round of mods yet either. I'm not really a dyno-guy. I just like to build em and enjoy them on the street.
Didn't know you could get the PTE cams. Cool, I'll do that.
I just picked up a spare stock intake mani, I'll take it apart when it gets here and see if I want to port/polish it myself. Since the whole thing comes apart p/p is prop pretty easy especially if it's al or magnesium. I did a set of Steel Ford heads one time and it took 3 months of weekends. I never want to do that again. Heads take alot of careful work: d-shape ex ports, smooth comb chamber, radiusing the turns in the intake psgs, and clean up the radius around the valve guides...... I did my best after reading alot of sources on how to do it... today you can buy a set of used al heads that flow way better than any home ported steel head. From what I've seen it looks like people are simply cleaning up any imperfections in the flow tract on the CLK intake mani.... no real science just simple clean up.
Then Sunil at MotorWerks is going to do the dyno-tune for me.
I'd be pleased with anything north of 410 at the FW.
Another area that is a possible choke point is the primary cats..... has anyone replaced the primary cats with hi-flow units for gains? Does this set off the CEL?
THX..... I'd really like to get C63 FWHP from this little Clk55.

Removing the primary cats will throw a cel. However, the ecu can be programmed to take care of this issue. With that being said, the primary cats could be considered restrictive. Some manufacturers (Kleemann) make a header design that includes large downpipes that will replace the primary cats. I originally was going to put the Kleemann ones on my C55 (same engine as yours) but ran into concerns about warranty since they would require cutting up the stock system and welding. I've since acquired some used Evosport ones and may put them on. The AMS ones look like a good design and I've been tempted to give those a try also..

Question
Quick Question - are C43 heads the same as my 2004 CLK55 Amg heads?
I have a line on a used set.... if they're the same I might get them ported/polished for phase II mods.

I'm not sure, but I think the C43 heads are more similar to the CLK430, versus the CLK55, ableit they are all derived from the SOHC V8 engine block.

A C43 head is a 430 head (part numbers: left 1130101820 / right 1130101920) with a ported exhaust port (just the roof on the exahuast, the sides and floor look the same. the intake port has been left alone), standard 430 valves, C43 specific cams, and C43 specific springs.
As far as castings go, the NA 55 uses 500 heads (same part numbers: left 1130102020 / right 1130102120). I have no idea whether the 55 heads are ported. The NA 55 has unique cams (part numbers: left 113 050 79 01 / right 113050 80 01), and the 500/55/55K all use the same valves. I never wrote down the valve spring info.

Very few people are going to do hardcore n/a mods on the older m113 when its easier to put a kleemann blower to make big power.
I think even the race heads for the c63 are north of 10k from what I remember.
But if you throw some cams and race heads please post some videos of it for us.
I'm itching to buy an airbox but i can't justify 1300 dollars on a piece of cf on a modifed oem amg airbox. I'm still considering the TVT ported manifold though.

* Used Kleeman never materialized, seller fell off face of earth. He's same person I got the used renntech airbox from.
* I picked up a used intake mani. Took it apart this weekend, and to be honest I don't see many areas for improvement. I was hoping to see alot of casting flash but there are very little imperfections with this intake. It is very oily and gunky. I might take my air tools and sand paper rolls to this intake if I get some time to see how fast the polishing goes. I've worked with steel and al before but not magnesium.
* got the cams/retainers in friday... can't wait to get those in!

Higher Stall Converter...... is anyone selling a modified stocker? for higher stall?
I saw a thread a while back but never heard results, and like many things w113 related it died away.

Where did this guy get the "higher stall" convertor listed in his drag times mods?
I see this as a good shopping list for 11's.......
