CLK63 AMG..What shld I do???
Hello all,Just joined the site, and I'm lookin to break my Mercedes Benz virginity, and join the family. ; ) Today is Easter (4-4-10) and I'm closing on a deal on a 2007 CLK63 AMG tomorrow. The car has 25K miles, and is in pristine condition with a glowing Autocheck report. I'm paying $42,500 for it, and I'm really nervous.
Should I buy the car? Is it a good deal, and more importantly, does the car have any known problems or issues with it that I should stay away, and buy something else? wwIs this car the awesome beast people claim it to be?
Well, thank you all for any and all responses. It is greatly appreciated.
Derek.
A 2007 CLK63 Cabriolet with similar miles was just bid up to $45k on Ebay (didn't make the reserve). I think $42,500 is a fair price for a nice condition model. My Wife's car is indeed a beast with the 6.3ltr engine--you won't be disappointed.
Good luck!
Brad
Well, I did it! Purchased my first Benz!!! So happy and can't wait 2 drop the top and cruise the city with my wife.
Well done for a fine, fine choice of car!!
I swear to god, I have the same ridiculous grin when I drive it that I had when I first bought it.
The car is brutal.
I have not had any issues with it at all.
Any issues with the 209 CLK were ironed out way before 2007, so you shouldn't have any issues.
And the engine is pretty much bomb proof.
No forced induction either, so the engine will not be over stressed.
I must admit that I don't know a whole lot about the 63 AMG besides what I read in reviews, and here on MB-World, so I appreciate your comments on the engine being bullet-proof. Makes feel a whole lot better inside I can tell you that. So thanks much on that.
I'm hoping that alot of other members will post comments as to what they think, and how they feel here too. I'll be looking forward to reading them, and learning from them as well.
Well, continued success with yours, and happy motoring!

Derek.

Man, you have no idea what's heading your way!
It...is...awesome!
I take ridiculously good care of the car and know the car really quite well now.
If you have any questions about the car, just PM me.
I'd be happy to help you out with any advice.
It's great to meet another CLK63 owner.

You're absolutely right.
It's hard to resist lighting up the rear tyres, eh! haha
The feeling of driving this monster is unrivalled.
It's not just the sheer grunt of the thing.. it's also that glorious roar.
The whole experience is completely consuming.
Good to meet you too!

Well It's an 07 with 28K miles on it, and I ended up getting it for $39K, so the money I saved on the cars price, I can use towards those tires. LOL Any tire brand suggestions?

In regards to oil, Usually people change this annually, but I prefer to change mine perhaps every 6 mths.
I don't do many mile, only around 5000, so it's not really dirty anyway.
Since buying the car last May, I changed the oil 3 times.
On saturday, I'll be in the workshop to have the oil changed again (&filter), along with Tranny fluid (&filter), anti-corrosion fluid, brake fluid and fuel filter.
I have some new plugs too (all 16 of them! LOL), but I'll probably wait for a while before changing those as I haven't even clocked up 10,000 miles yet.
On the subject of tranny fluid, I would advise having this changed when you get the chance.
In fact, Mercedes themselves have recognised this need and have now introduced the tranny fluid change in their servicing.
Before, it was a "sealed for life" mentality.
They say to change it after 37,500 miles.
But I personally feel that most of the initial wear in the 'box occurs within the first 5,000 miles or so.
So that's why I'm having mine changed.
Just to get some fresh fluid in there.
WARNING:
Do not change the tranny fluid yourself.
It needs to be in the workshop for that.
Not as simple as an oil change.
The car needs to be in the air and also needs to have the torque convertor drained too.
Some guys have tried changing this themselves and have done serious damage to their gearboxes.
Be careful.
If ever you're not sure, seek advice first.
Hi mate.
I've got a feeling that the C63 uses M114 bolts as apposed to the M112 bolts that the CLK uses.
I may be wrong though.
Perhaps someone else will shed some more light.
I guess I'll be getting the tranny flushed soon. lol But it's all good. You gotta keep up with the maintenance. I've always been good about that with my cars, especially when it comes to the life blood of the car...The OIL! ; )
