AMGY - exhaust setup: Klee Long tubes (really midlength with downpipes), 300 cell 2ndary cats, stock y-pipe, stock AMG catback, stock AMG can muff. Not as mean as PTE's setup..... but should still make decent power for single "sleeper" exahust setup.

Moedy - there was sooo much wrong with this build, cory has been working on this day/night.... giving me constant updates......

BHeart - should go on the dyno this week.... but they do have an sl65 and another slk55 in the shop too.... so we'll see......

initial runs with cams setup right and new tuning..... below.....

"I've done about 5 dyno runs this morning. I'm seeing 475 HP at the tires!! "

All with good AFR.

475/480 at the tires. Not too shabby.

Should be a solid 11 sec merc on drag radials.

I'll post up some dyno graphs when I get them.

So the port work on the heads was quality work, coupled with the PTE cams.... and smaller pulley she rips.

can't wait to drive it.

Old tune with cam off a tooth 400 rwhp Dynodynamics
New tune with cam correctly installed 475-480rwhp (dyno-jet? @ klee usa?)

I'm pleased.

Congratulations! You have got an amazing WHP! I am glad you have achieved your target, after a long journey and waiting.
By the way, what is the pulley size? Are you using stock fuel injectors with Kleemann FMU and MAF voltage clamp? What is the A/F ratio at high rpm?

Congratulations! You have got an amazing WHP! I am glad you have achieved your target, after a long journey and waiting.
>>>>Yes patience pays off.

By the way, what is the pulley size?
>>>>Custom pulley, not sure size. Will measure when I get car back. Allegedely made 4psi after ported heads with stock pulley.... so basically pullied down to get back to 7-8psi with ported heads.

Are you using stock fuel injectors with Kleemann FMU and MAF voltage clamp?
>>>>Stock Inj with rising rate fpr all by Klee rec's. +/-100psi-105psi when reg kicks in which makes stock inj act like bigger inj.
>>>>not sure about the MAF volt clamp (resistor??)..... it's all being done per Klee USA.....

What is the A/F ratio at high rpm? was 12.5:1 @ 475...... but richening up in places and fine tuning.... hoping for 475-480rwhp when all said and done with the final tune.

Keep in mind this is all 2nd hand from Cory, as I'm in Houston and car is @ Klee USA getting the love and attn it deserves.

Betrezra,

Good for sticking with the project and getting completed.

If you are like me though you will drive it for 100 miles and then ship it back for another round of upgrades.

EC - thanks, I have a very understanding wife.

Not many people would be willing to go without a car for almost a year and dump the equiv of a new accord into it with no seat time....... but I can see the light now.

Got the final Dyno/tune: 472rwhp / 481rwtq with a nice afr curve to boot.
I'm pretty stoked to put these numbers down considering I have the newer Eaton blower, and stock single AMG exhaust.
Got a little snippet of a story of a "test drive" of my car in mexico against a new SS Camaro...... let's just say SS was disappointed

Heading up to see the car @ Klee USA Friday, meet the guys at the shop, drive the car.
Should be epic.
Car should be shipped back to H-town in 2wks.

Thx mbworld for letting me post up this long essay of my build, the good the bad and the ugly!
Hopefully someone else will get something out of my experience.

Sent my refund request to Motorwerks of Houston today for all the repair work on this ride to correct all the mistakes by MW. If they make it right I'll post up the "good experience" I had with them and how they stood by their work.... and of course I'll post up the opposite in a concise fashion so others can avoid my perils if I get lip service, and move to the 'next' step of the claims process.

Off to Kleemann in 3 days! Can't wait to meet the guys there, and to drive the beast.

Hey Betrezra,

I just read this whole thread from day one till right now, took me a couple of hours. What a story you have here. It was a wild ride just reading it with all the ups and down you have had.

Good luck and Congrats and have a safe trip.

Great numbers! What kind of Dyno is Kleemann using? Perhaps Dynojet?
I do not see the A/F ratio numbers in that graph...
Did they use Eurocharged tune file?

Louie - thx for the support. I figured people might be getting tired of this long thread by now..... but it will be worth the wait.

Superstar - I believe this currently has a genuine Kleemann Tune.
It would not run right with the 'other' tune.... CEL, 'return car to shop' warnings, bucking, surging, rough idle. I don't know how much of this was due to the poor mechanical workmanship, or the tune, or a combination. I'm sure installing a cam off a tooth and not having the blower seated to the heads might be at least partially to blame.
Funny thing when I approached eurocharged for a refund on my tune they sent me to MW.... so I'm dealing with the main contractor here, and not their subcontractors at this point.

The dyno is def not a dyno-dynamics... it is most likely a mustang or dyno-jet..... which reads higher than the dyno-dynamics. Also these numbers are corrected for sea-level, since Klee USA is up in Co Springs. Oh and I'm happy to be getting a copy of the dyno-sheets/readouts. Awesome. MW could not deliver any dyno-graphs for all their tuning work, which struck me as odd.

It is a miracle that this engine is not mechanically damaged from all of this hack-work! AMG engineers would cringe at the thought of putting dyno time on a car with a cam installed a tooth off, and then delivering this car to a customer! I'm so thankful that there is not a hole in a piston or a bend rod, or broken valves. So at least I have that to be thankful for. My next challenge is to not pay for that bad work, and get back on the road.

Also MW was trying to tell me I needed a new transmission at the end there before I pulled the car from them.... they said the bad shifting might be due to a bad trans, which would be $5000-5600!!!! The best thing I ever did on this build was yank the car from MW and ship it to the experts at Klee USA. At that point we were just throwing good money after bad money with bandaids after a shoddy install. Who knows where I'd be today with this thing if it was still @ MW? I was getting close to punting and parting the thing out.

congrats!! u finally get to pick it up and get the real feel of it!!

btw since ur going there and testing the ride keep an eye on shifting. when i first got my car it had noticeable jerky shifting during regular driving but it adapted with time. what still concerns me though is later when i took it racing shifting was messing my times up i tried to manually shift it but i was shifting it at an early time which wasnt really helping my times

ask the guys at kleemann if they have a TCU set up to fix the problem or if they have any advice to avoid that or get smoother shifting

oh yea enjoy the drive back cuz its going to feel like a few minutes and ur home

Hami -
* yeah 1st test drive is Friday! Can't wait.
** shifting was noted as smooth mb per kleemann test drives.... no issues at all.
*** no drive back..... I'm having it shipped back here because I'm a candy azz.

I can't believe my car was originally dropped off 9/10/10.... I will get it back before the annum

thats good news im still trying to figure out how I could get smoother shifting im really considering a high throw torque converter but i cant find anything about them on the thread and im lazy to start a thread to ask about one but i might just do that since im online right now :P

I really cant believe u waited that long i ordered my parts at the same time u did and I have my car done and ready in 3-4weeks

trust me ur going to love it. start looking into exhaust systems and intakes im about to pull the plug and get some changes done in the coming two weeks

I'll start looking for the biggest Drag Radials I can fit on my stock 17" rear wheels, then run the car this fall in some good weather. I might get a quote to cut my stock 17" front wheels into skinnies for 1/4 mile action. I'll see if it is cost prohibitive. They do it with steel wheels in Stockton wheels in Cali.

Progress on all fronts:
1. Kleemann has completed my car and made all repairs. They "worked" with me tremendously on the shop-time/cost. Words cannot describe my gratitude for helping me on this deal.
2. MW is going to cover all the repair charges from Kleemann USA, and they'll throw in a motorwerks t-shirt (my request ), and we'll have lunch and move on. I'm pleased.

For clarification - EC only did the tune/dyno work as a subcontractor through MW.

Thanks for letting the "little guy" in this case the customer post up the issues, and work out this deal. In the end Kleemann, Motorwerks are coming to bat for me on a very unfortunate install.

At the end of the day I'll have a bad-azz CLK55 S8.

I fly up to see my baby tomorrow AM, and a shop tour and test drive will follow.

Jeff - Houston
