Broken Engine mounts and Transmission mounts

Has anyone else broken their engine mounts and transmission mounts? My CLK 63 Cab only has 21k miles, and just a few days ago it broke down. Anything else I should be concerned about?

Engine mounts are normal wear parts. The transmission mount, which is inexpensive on a W208 - I don't know what they cost for a 209, suffers accelerated wear if the engine mount breaks and isn't attended to promptly. For mount longevity, mileage isn't so much an issue as how much torque they have to handle (tire grip and throttle possition) and how often. I hope it's an inexpensive repair.

I had my motor mounts replaced and completely agree with MarcusF, they are a normal wear and tear part on Mercedes.

Yep - 22k on mine and just had them replaced - luckily MB considers them a warranty item and the job was free so I did not get to see what the normal price would have been. End result though was a much smoother feel at idle and it actually seems to handle better - not sure why, maybe when they float on the hydraulic fluid of the mount, they do not impact the suspension since they no longer are banging on the frame when the motor twists.

Anybody have experience with firmer mounts? I have a C63 and am looking to buy a CLK 55 or 63 cab, and really feel like firmer motor mounts would be better. Like does the CLK 63 BS use firmer mounts that could be a direct replacement for the cabs? Thanks.

Is there an easy way to tell if you need new motor mounts? What should I be looking for?

On my 04 clk55 kleemanized car:
* squeaky dash noise mainly under braking....
* non-solid feeling from front frame rail area... hard to describe easy to feel.
* look for oil fluid around mm's
* not sure if this applies to benz... but the old fashioned method.... jack up motor with pc of wood with slight pressure... if motor mounts have gap then they're bad..... or power brake car with hood open.... 2nd person look for rocking motor.

Are the E55 MM's made of a different material? I just bought a new set of 209 MM to be installed when my car goes in for the Kleemann stuff.

According to Klee USA the E55K mm's are diff durometer rubber to handle the extra hp/tq of the blown 5.5 motor. So I have my dealer install those MM's.

Thanks, I'll see if I can return mine and get a set of the E55's.

Cheers.

I had engine mounts just replaced on my ML63 after 28000kms. Symptom was squeaking noise that you might have blamed on suspension
