He he - not sure about it on the two lane autobans sometimes a bit too much traffic and different speed ratio's i.e. MPV and 160mph 55 don't work if they pull out infront of you in the rain

I smell BS and I don't mean Black Series. For one thing, we don't see any shots of the speedo in this video. For another, this was filmed on French autoroutes, not German autobahns. And whereever it be, I doubt any CLK could hit 187 mph in traffic, derestricted or not. If the HP won't stop it, the gearing will. Maybe a 63 BS could pull if off, but I haven't seen a reliable report one way or the other. This is a highway, not Nardo.
But you have to give the driver credit for being a brave fool. In France cars and trucks can and will pull into the left lane without much warning. The 130 kmph speed limit (85 mph) is not so much exceeded anymore, since there are over 1000 robots which will ring up anything the gendarmes miss. So people don't study that rear view mirror much anymore.
Did I mention it's raining? Speed limits drop to 110 kmph by law. So this guy is a hardy fool indeed.

The W208 CLK55s have a natural top speed of roughly 176mph delimited. However, above 160mph they nose starts to get really light as the car does not have enough aerodynamic downforce to keep the nose down at those speeds (which is why the car was limited to 155mph in the first place).
I'm not saying its not impossible, just not possible stock, with mods and redline increase to 6400rpm ... sure it could be, but then again .... why would you want to ?

From what I have read on these forums previously, that you needed approx 400 HP to reach 300 KM or 187 MPH which is right around 6700 RPM for the W209. The W208 with 342 HP would be hard pressed to hit 175 MPH. Also the rain adds a bit of rolling resistance. I am a bit skeptical of 187 MPH in a stock W208 Cabriolet.

After that run, I knew my car (like many AMGs) was derestricted (most likely through the dealer when sold new in Germany).
At that speed the car stays very stable, not at all starting to go nose light as you suggest. There is a lot of wind nose, that's all. I believe the CLK basic wedge shape generates enough down force for autobahn stability (a design priority in Germany) although of course for track use it could use a lot more.
The 155 mph limiter is more a device to protect the world against fools like this U Tuber, rather than an admission that the car gets unsafe a little bit beyond.

How is your sound system going??
Still setting off alarms on parked cars?
lol!
Regarding what you mentioned....
I have every confidence that my 63 will hit these kind of speeds.
Currently putting out 510hp & 522lbs ft, with a V-Max removal.
I have hit around 160, but traffic hindered my mission somewhat.
Doh!

The sound system is doing fine, thanks. Julio put in a second amp (Focal 1 x 800) just to drive the sub-woofer. Julio also put a knob on the dash so I can crank it up or down as desired. The mighty Brax 4 channel now just takes care of the Focal Utopia 3 way speakers on each side. But that Brax (class A) amp still heats up enough to cost me 1 or 2 mpg and fry an egg!
You might think this set up going down the road would wake up Granny from the dead and set off car alarms, but Julio's bubble blanket of dynamat actually makes the car relatively silent on the outside. You have to be inside to appreciate....

Heh, Rash, good to hear from you. Yeah, it's always traffic that gets in the way. We need Nardo!

Dynamat is good stuff. A friend of mine had it in his BMW.
I was really impressed with its performance.
Glad you are well!

Just to clarify,
I dont Care for Bull S..t!!
The car hit 187 when we reached the autobarn along with the R8.
The GTR hit 193MPH.
check the express rocket team on face book, I will be happy to add you. there are video's and speedo readings of the cars involved.
ERT is a group of people who use their cars to the limits.
we have 100% safety record
There are greater idiots in this world than us!!
When I posted the video it was not ment to create a debate but I stumbled across this one.
I know what my CLK is capable of, if you want to know your cars limit then try it!!
Yes the car is light at the front and nose dives very well under braking.
I have driven many super cars in my time and the CLK has quiet a punch but is not a true supercar.
anyway, take care and enjoy the machine whatever you have.

2002 CLK55 Cabriolet (DEAD: 1989 300E, 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible)
Have done 150 in my CLK 55 on the (empty) 210 Freeway at 4 AM, had to slow down as my exit was coming up within a mile, still felt like it had legroom to go, it wouldn't surprise me if it could hit 187 ...
