E55 amg to clk 55 cylinder head interchange??

Will heads from an e55 amg work on a clk 55 amg? Are they physically the same?

No problem just scouting for cores to be ported. Knowing Mercedes like any other car manufacturer used the 5.5's in other cars they made so by broadening the search helps my success ratio of finding CHEAP used heads.

What year range is the 210? The 211? And what problem may I run into using a 211?

Thanx a bunch

From what I've been able to dig up from wiki; it seems the 211 heads are 3 valve sohc heads just as the clk 55 heads. I believe the 211 heads use a different block that the 210. I'm just not sure yet of the innards such as bolt patterns and water and oil passage locations. The outside parts aren't that big a deal meaning intake and exhaust ports. If they are different, I just need to nab 211 intake and exhaust manifolds with the heads.

Yes the heads will inter change , But the later head 05 & newer had less intrusive bumps the the exhaust port runner. _PTEngineering

Unfortunately the deal on the e55 amg engine seems to have fallen through. however I do have one more question: would a set of heads off of a 2005 clk 55 amg still have the same benefits as the 2005 e55 amg heads?

There are many differences between the 55K and the 55 NA. Besides the supercharger, the crank, rods, pistons, block and heads are all different. The heads have different part numbers. I don't have any information about what the casting differences are. Aside from the head itself, the cams, exhaust valves, and springs are different. I don't have any cam specs, but I'm going to guess there is a lot less overlap on the K cams. That would be good on a boosted engine, and not so on an NA.

I guess mainly what I was concerned about were the improved exhaust ports and better valve springs. From what you are saying; it seems like a no on the improved valve springs and the jury is still out on the improved exhaust ports. I can live without the stiffer springs. Even with my gutted converters; I can speculate there is no valve float. The improved exhaust ports on the 05 clk 55 heads(if they have them like pte says) make them a deal maker.

Kinda hard to tell but it appears the number on one of the heads reads R 113 016 07 01. Need quick responses. Ty all.

They will be harder to find. Just get some heads from any yr N/A 5.5l and just get them done.

While doing the port work, the dual springs may be a simple upgrade. You already have the outer springs. The inners cost about $325 for a set. You’ll need the bottom retainers. Those are about another $125. However, if you’re not swapping cams for something with more lift, and there is no evidence of float, there may not be an upside.

Agreed on the springs but better port design to start with is a big plus. If I'm gonna spend the $$$ to buy a set of clk 55 heads I want the better exhaust ports to start with.

From the way pte worded it; it sounds like all 5.5 heads from 05+ have that design improvement. Can anyone(including pte) confirm or deny that or are the improved exhaust ports just a s/c 5.5 thing?

I believe the clk550 has the 4 valve heads/cams.... which is why it makes close to 400hp stock in non-amg form. Not sure if these bolt up to our motors though.

Ya I just lost all respect for German manufacturers. I called the dealer to run the casting numbers and they have no clue what engine what year or anything. I can understand if they were made in 63 but they are clearly 113 heads. I need to verify that they are 1. 5.5 heads and 2. 05 heads like the seller says. Does anyone have the ability to decode these casting numbers bc the manufactuer doesn't.

As someone suggested I'm not just gonna buy the heads without know what they came off of. Could be 4.3 heads for all I know and mb worthless *** identification system doesn't help either. Why bother with casting numbers? Do these heads have a part number located on them anywhere?

Alright, the seller has provided a vin saying they are from a 05 clk 55 amg conv. Dealer has confirmed. I guess I have to hope he is providing the correct vin number. I'm still trying to negotiate on the e55 Amg engine first tho.
