It is a little frustrating to not have the rescources I need for Interchange and such. Seems these kraut motherf***ers do a good job of withholding knowledge of their engines in particular.

A mb tech recommended something like German star but from what I gathered it is a pay(big surprise there) site. Any free sites with technical data on their cars and engines?

You may benefit from a WIS (PM me and I'll tell you how to get one for free if you're in LA or Orange County, $25 IF you're in the continental US/Canada) and an EPC. You'll need a PC that runs XP. Alternatively, they're available on ebay.
