how to remove mirror from clk 55
I need to get to the turn signal lens and from what i can see the mirror cover has to be removed.
From what i have been told, i need to remove the inside speaker, fold the mirror to access a removal clip or something and then i will be able to remove the mirror cover.
Can someone confirm or deny this?
thx.

well after poking and prodding around with it for a while, i did not see any clip. i just removed the 4 torx screws from the front bezel then the housing became loose.
unfortunately it was all for not, i wanted to get to the mirror markers to tint them but it is a sealed assembly and i cannot see a feasible way to take it apart without ruining it.
does anyone aftermarket make smoked mirror markers?

Honestly, I don't remember seeing any for sale. You might want to check the picture threads in here and the regular 208 forums.
You may have to tint them yourself. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

only option i have is to tint it from the outside and that is ghetto. the vinyl tints would just blow off and the spray tint would just chip off. i may be screwed; I'm also considering a downgrade to a cover without the lights in them as an alternative.

i did get an idea im trying out; im smoking them from the outside and tomorrow once it hardens im going to clear coat them. i sprayed some tint on some test plastic too, so i can determine if the tint can hold up to the clearcoat. ive seen it sprayed on cheap paints before and it would strip it off. i hope that is not the case here.

I do have an update, I removed the mirrors for clear-coating and found some overspray on them so i removed the tint and after 100 or so tries they are right. Keep in mind i have to be very precise with the coat bc im going for a light smoke to match the rest and not practically painted black tint. I tested with the clear coat using duplicolor acrylic enamel and it has to be precise and mist on slowly. Too much and it breaks down the tint as I suspected.

update: after slowly and meticulously applying the clear im almost there; i just need to let it harden fully and im there. It's gonna look great after i remove the tape and put the mirrors back on.

update: pre-install pic. The shade looks different bc one is under direct light and the other is not plus different angle etc but they will look awesome once installed.

update:
they are on and look great, match the foglights, the sidemarkers and tail lights very nicely. Project blackout is almost complete; only things left are the headlights.
