some of them ware made for the west coast and some for East my model was for the east thats why it tops out at 155.
they run diff maps you can go to dealer and ask to raise limiter.

Whoever told you "east coast CLK550s have a 155 MPH speed limiter" was lying, misspoke, or was ill informed. One of the sales points of a U.S. spec AMG vehicle is that it has a higher electronically limited top speed than a non-AMG Mercedes-Benz. Toss aside the fact that Mercedes-Benz press kits stated the U.S. spec CLK550 is electronically limited to 130 MPH, I can speak from experience. I was at a press intro for the CLK550 and the CLK63, and have been in several CLK press cars since then. I’ve driven CLK550 press cars at WOT on race tracks, and they were equipped with electronic speed limiters. They could not do 155 MPH. If your CLK550 has a 155 MPH limiter, the software has been modified.

ECU upgrade
In any case, you can always have your ECU upgraded to remove the speed limitation period. Then your car can do what your car, on either coast, is capable of doing.

Betrezra,
I saw your signature block on was wondering if the "K3" stands for Kleemann? Your picture of the engine looks like a Kleemann so I assume so. What is the K3 package include and what does it dyno out at if you don't mind sharing. Thanks.

ash - it's still under the knife getting more mods...... it last dyno'd at 415 RWHP with shorty headers and stock pulley... boost was really low because of the p/p heads.... so currently getting better headers and smaller pulley then new tune.... hoping for 425-440rwhp..... but we'll see. Should be done in two weeks.

I called Kleeman headquarters in Denmark just last week to ask about their packages and prices for my 03 CLK55. I am interested in doing the full setup the K3 which includes kompressor with ECU tune, tubular exhaust headers and downpipes as well as sport camshafts. The salesman who I spoke with also recommended I get a dif. lock to get all the power to the ground but I am not familiar with that technology, anyone care to enlighten me about dif. locks?
I asked what kind of numbers I could expect from a complete package and his answer was 545 flywheel HP. They would dyno the car before the install as well as after to really see what their kits really have to offer. I did not schedule anything but if it's going to happen it will be sometime in May.
Their prices are ridiculous to say the least but that's the price to pay to get real numbers out of our 55s I guess.
My car is bone stock right now. The thought of this upgrade keeps me up late at night and I am seriously thinking about pulling the trigger but it's seriously going to hurt my wallet. I don't know homie
I wonder if the complete setup will enable me to hang with an R8, what do you guys think. Have two friends with R8's, one V8 other V10...

At the end of the day I'll have something special (in my mind at least).... but to be honest you're dollars/performance ahead for just selling the clk55 and getting an E55 that already comes with a kompressor and modifying that beast for some real HP/TQ!
But I have fallen in-love with this little two-door pillar-less coupe..... so it goes.... I'll have one heck of a sleeper when it's all said and done.... not the fastest car on the road, but it'll hold it's own for sure. If I can knock down an 11.XXXX 1/4 mile I'll be very pleased.

In regards to an E55 AMG, the 2003-2006 models had 469 HP @ 6100 and 516 TQ. However, they have a curb weight of 3900 lbs, which is 500 lbs more than the W208 CLK.
The 2009 Audi R8 has a 4.2-liter V8 with 420 HP @ 7800 rpm and 317 TQ and a curb weight of 3605 lbs. However, the power flows to all four wheels so hook-up will quicker.
In contrast a Kleemann W208 CLK 55 AMG will have around 540 HP and 527 TQ with a curb weight of only 3400 lbs. Less weight, more HP and TQ is a good thing for performance handling. The W209 will be similar in performance.
The "dif. locks" you are referring to is a "limited slip differential" or commonly known as an "LSD." Kleemann sells one in their package, which allows both wheels to put down the serious power their packages create. Without the LSD, it will do very little good to pay for more power that only exacerbates the one wheel peel burn. I think we have all experienced MB faulty design on our CLKs in this regard. The key is to hook-up ASAP off the line. If you are already rolling, the lack of the LSD will not as big of an issue.

I find myself not even touching my X3 anymore unless it's for grocery shopping. Might as well get rid of it right...?

Ashut - agree your w208 with Klee is lighter than the e55k..... BUT the e55k can be pullied down for major hp/tq with less expense than our cars with the high compression.
Don't get me wrong you can make big power on the clk55 K-cars, BUT you have to spend mucho bucks to do it, especially when you're talking about more than .5bar of boost.
But sometimes it's not all about dollars/cents.... the car has to speak to you, and for some odd reason I just love my little clk-coupe. business-man's-dragcar
I've always liked a sleeper, unassuming on the outside, but has major go-power.

Just installing the kleeman on the CLK is $9000 blower, and $2K install..... plus tax.... so You're at $11k, and that puts you right about 380RWHP. That is still less than the stock E55k........
The e55k can put on a smaller pulley and tune and wipe it's backside with a kleeman clk...... sorry.
You have to do alot to the clk to make it fast... then you're limited by the high CR. Ask me how I know..... I'm living this now...... and prob maxed out at 425-440rwhp until I swap out pistons or blowers or both..... and just to get to my level I'm in a big investment...... (don't ask..... I hate to add it up) ..... not bragging.... just saying it adds up fast.
An E55K can do this very very easily for less $$$$$.

No disagreement here Moedy.
From my experience I might have done it differently if I wanted to go fast for less money, that's all I'm saying. But fortunately I really like the clk w209 chassis.

When I called Kleeman DE I was quoted 10,500euros for K3 + 3,500euros for install. Add 800euros for LSD and it comes down to a whipping 14,800euros not including the 1,500euros for pick up & delivery. 14,800euros is according to xe.com currency converter 20,452.77 USD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
K3 package according to the Kleeman representative I had on the phone sets you off with 540 Flywheel HP so lets say drivetrain loss is 20% we're talking about 432RWHP. I am just curious to know where you got those numbers...??

Kleemann advertised numbers are "calcuated" at the flywheel from their rearwheel dyno numbers....... it's pretty well known they are optimistic.
Most 5.5liter Amg motors with Kleemann Eaton blower (new less efficient model) + headers + tune are putting down 400-420rwhp (dep on which dyno you use).

This is the same reason why I upgraded to a clk55 from my 320. I didnt want air suspension. I wanted to feel the road. slk55 was too small and the e55 was bigger and less nimble. The clk was right in the middle
