Wanted: 02-05 CLK55 AMG coupe
Just like the title says, I'm looking for an 02-05 coupe to add to the stable. I'm looking for one that is in EXCELLENT cosmetic and mechnical condition that has been consistently maintained/serviced by an MB dealership. Black or silver is preferred, I'll consider white but no red please. Perfect title, carfax, and ownership history is a must. (no accidents or paintwork, lemons, etc.) I dont mind paying a little bit of a premium for a mint example. I'd prefer a one owner car, but the biggest buying factor for me is the miles and condition. Ideal miles would be about 35-50k but I will consider up to 75k miles depending on the price and condition. I'm looking to spend about $13-15k on an 02-03 and up to $20-22k for a pristine low mileage 05 (this would be my first choice if I could pick any CLK55). I'm willing to travel anywhere in the U.S. for the right car at the right price, but those located in the western U.S. are definitely preferred. I'm located in Reno, Nevada.
I have cash in hand and am ready to buy NOW. No BS or tire kicking. If you have what I'm looking for and it meets my expectations then I'll buy it, plain and simple. PM me if you're ready to sell your car and I'll give you my phone number.

In case you didn’t know, the ’02 and ’03 coupes are completely different cars. The 2002 CLK55 is a W208, whereas the 2003 and later cars are W209s. Aside from the visual differences, the front suspension and steering are not alike. The W209s also had a little higher compression ratio, was slightly heavier, and was a pillarless coupe. $13K for a perfect car . . . . . how the mighty have fallen.
Too bad der boostmeister wasn't released here.

Marcus, thanks for the info I appreciate the feedback, but yes I am aware of the differences between the w208 & w209. I just sold an 02 with 49k miles for $15k so I was hoping I could get an 03 for around the same price with around 70k miles. But honestly I would prefer a mint condition 04-05 in black with low miles. I'll pay $18-20k for that car right now if I could find one (assuming the car meets my criteria)

Good luck finding a "perfect" 02 Clk55 with low miles. Since these cars are rare it won't be easy. BTW mine is in good condition with 58k miles. Not for sale

you know what I mean, "perfect" relative to the age. I understand it will still have around 50k miles and have typical wear and tear. You've never seen a seven year old car that looks brand new because its been pampered its entire life? You should see my Supra...17 yrs old and people ask me if its a "new lexus model" lol

even tho i don't qualify for your criteria, i don't think ill be parting with my 01 either but i will consider buying my first four cylinder car ugh. thinking ill go with 01-03 sti cause i actually liked the bubble-eye headlights. japanese......oh gawd it's sleeping with the devil how will i look at myself again. Not trying to start anything just personal preference.
i don't see alot of older sti's for sale which makes me question their reliability; seriously are they reliable?

also wonder y toyota threw in the towel on the supra? when I thought japanese muscle that is what came to mind. I guess the same could be said about mitsubishi and the 3000gt. liked that car too and they quit making it. hmmm maybe i can find a awd 3000gt in decent shape but it's a v6....doh.

Toyota tossed in the towel for the same reason Mazda dropped the Rx-7 and Nissan stopped 300 ZX production - no one was buying them. In the mid-1990's, $40K (the 300ZXTT/Supra Turbo/Rx-7 price) would buy a stripper C5 or 968. Good luck finding a stripper Porsche 968, but when looking at the numbers, any of Japan's trio just didn't make sense.

Will go up for sale when I locate a suitable replacement.

And yes, they are very reliable, you don't see them for sale because they sell quick. I have offers for my Subarus all the time, and they hold their value very well. Better resale value than any car I have ever owned.

2005 E55, 2002 CLK55, 2005 SLK350 also a 2009 BMW 335-IX
I'll keep my eyes out for you. Perfect cars still do exist - I can count the rock chips on my car on one hand, and it has no paintwork, door dings or scratches. Everything works, and has a perfect interior. One owner and 46K miles. OVER maintained.
Will go up for sale when I locate a suitable replacement.

I am with Chappy...
We have the same year and model and are only separated by the interior color. He has black, I have black with silver, as I recall.
Mine is also in outstanding shape, with just 33K on the clock, and also over-maintained.
Finding another car as delighful as this one is not easy!

Unless you're overseas here in the US there was no STi in 01-03, 2004 was the first year. If you want a STi for 4 cylinder fuel efficiency then it is the wrong car for you(that's what it sounds like to me from your post). It'll average about the same if not less in the city and be even worse then the AMG on the highway. I have both a modded STi and modded WRX and they are even worse on gas, but definitely worth it.

Thanks for the PMs I've received thus far. I'll still consider the right car for the right price but I'm primarily leaning towards an E55 or E63 at this point. Thanks all!
