Need more POWER Clk63
Hey guys,
need some advice... I have a 2007 CLK63, and I am sick of the Jap cars blowing passed me. The only mod I have at the moment is a BMC air filter in the stock box.
What can I do to get more out of it, and can the car take it? And how come the Black, E63 and S63 have more power from the factory? I dont want to go nuts but an extra 50hp would be nice...

As for your question as to why the power is lower on your car, its basically detuned fron the factory, a simple ecu tune will bring up to or over the 525 crank hp of a stock SL63.

Limited slip differential.
Get that power to the ground.
Here's a list: Air in - airbox and filters, Exhaust out - headers, cats, muffler, ECU - tune (fuel trims, speed delimiter, raise RPM)

frankenstein 2001 CLK 430
i experienced this first hand a stock clk bs and a stock e55 03, they ran neck to neck for a 600 meter run, both cars had experienced drivers, they started from 1st gear roll, both cars had 1 passenger, modified 63's that's a total different story. i wish i have video-ed it.

like all others have said, contact Jerry. You should be happy with headers and a tune. I would go get a base dyno run first and maybe go to the drag strip then go from there

AMG's are not drag cars
If you need a drag car to keep up with the japs - get one. I still have an old mustang that is faster than I can drive it - 69 with a built 427 side oiler, I ran it to 9.48 on 10.5" tires - but not something I would drive on a daily basis (car did run sub 9 with a decent driver 3 times in a row at BIR). They are straight line cars and not something that can be driven daily. I finally got an AMG (used, but still an AMG - love the thing) after driving "regular" MB's for 10 years - these are a different breed of cars - I plan on using my CLK55 as a fantastic daily driver, not worried about a bunch of kids in purpose built cars. The AMG will never be as fast as a drag car in a straight line, will never corner with a lotus, and will never be as fast as a RUF, but are much better built cars for all around use, and I have not driven anything but a benz on a daily basis for many years - best all around cars made, and the AMG just makes it better. When my kid gets out of college, I will buy a new AMG - I love my "new" car after only owning it for 3 weeks.

no harm intended - he's tired of the japs passing him - my neighbor's kid has a 10 second (for real) honda with a NOS'ed/turbo'ed B43 motor - car is darn quick. 50hp ain't gonna make up that kind of thing. I have owned all kinds of vehicles, but when I turned 40 I started driving MB's - won't go back - best all around cars available, and the only daily driver I will have for the rest of my life. I always looked down on AMG cars (figure they were poser performance cars) until one kept up with me from 40-80mph in one of my mustangs, why I bought my CLK - I love the thing - it's a benz with real hp. I think my point was missed - these are MB cars with serious performance, but not purpose built cars. My old 930 was scary (sold), but I will pick my newly acquired AMG over anything else for a daily - they are a benz first, with performance that is not well understood - I guess it took me a while to figure it out how darn good these cars are at everything.

your still not helping the OP with what hes asking for !! Your repeating yourself tellin us how you love AMG's and will own one for life , thats kool and all but kinda of pointless here . In all honestly though if the 02'CLK 55 got you a woody like that you need to test drive the any AMG 55 with a supercharger newer then 03+ you will have new found respect for what AMG is .. and with mod's fuggetboutit back to topic though!
.. OP is asking what he has todo to make his ride quicker ..
Like others stated hit up some of these forum performance sponsers and im sure youll be smoking jap rides in no time might cost couple grand but whats that , one months payment and gas .
or u can try something like this
Evosport ECU Upgrade & Power Chip Stage#1
Evosport ECU Upgrade & Power Chip Stage#2
EVO63 Intake System & Evosport Performance Carbon Fiber Air Box Evosport Rear Performance Brake Rotors
EVO Power Pulley System (Qty=4)
EVO Performance Race Headers
EVO Race Exhaust System including Performance X-pipe & Hi-Flow Resonators
MIGHT NET 600 HP
with that setup you probably smoke a 9second mustang too

Dragy
Spend $150 on a Dragy unit. You can work on your driving skills to improve 0-60, 1/4 mile, Speed Mile ECT. A mod is only as good as the drivers skills to manage them. Dyno #s are nice but only if they equate to driving performance. Track days are great if you're got them too.
