Good idea and remove the secondary cats too. Will give you a more throaty sound without being too invasive

W209 CLK55 doesn't have resonator anymore. Think about removing secondary cats, that will give you some more growl.

It's one of the cheapest and most appreciated modifications on this forum. For a few bucks you get a mean menacing growl!! Well worth it IMO

Why do you think you will get a loss of power? Most likely get a slight increase of power with the faster and better exhaust flow.

Someone I know told me you lose top end due to less back pressure...But it sounded kinda off to me.

Nope, you can loose some low end torque due to less backpressure, but if you do it right, you shouldn't loose anything. Besides that, you will certainly gain some top end hp and torque, due to better flow.

I am very happy with my quad exhaust (2nd cat and muffler delete, now using one magnaflow 14" resonated x-pipe in the place of 2nd cats) - sounds really mean !!! It is loud, but still drivable. This is what it needed.

I know for a fact that BMW E60 owners doing the quad setup to resemble the M5 lose a significant amou t of top end and this happens to all of them but our Benz were built for this.
As mentioned previously if you do it right there shouldnt be any losses.

I had it done on 04 CLK55 for about $350.00. IMO it was a waste of money and I did not notice any performance gains.

did you notice any sound difference or do you really have to change the muffler to notice that change.

If they do a visual and they know what they're looking at, you will fail. It's common for some California Test Only Centers to roll the mirror on wheels under the car for a 'look see'. When I interview a smog station, I watch how they test the cars before me. If I see a mirror, I walk.

do u have any pictures of how the setup looks like?
i was thinking of deleting the secondaries but I already have eisenmann mufflers and the car is loud enough. all I want to do is get better flow and eliminate any restrictions
