Now I can go topless in my 63 AMG!
About 2 weeks ago I found a good deal on a CLK63 AMG Cabriolet with 27k miles after searching for the last 9 months. The car is a blast to drive. The seller was about 200 miles from my home, and the sales transaction was handled through the MB dealership. I was able to get the car CPO'ed for dirt cheap, and I will be buying 2 additional years of the CPO ELW very shortly. One of my favorite features on the car is the the ability to remotely raise and lower the top and windows using the key. Did I mention that the car is a blast to drive?

Pictures of the new addition.
Just a few snapshots of the CLK 63 AMG using my cell phone camera. The last picture is of my CLS 63 AMG with its new stablemate.

Congrats on the great find. I'm sure you got a smokin' deal on a car that looks brand new. The CLK63 is a rare find, and with the 3-slat grille and AMG 63 Wheels and Front Bumper, looks very classic.

Congrats, I bought mine about a month ago and agree it's a blast to drive on a daily basis. It's weird how these cars came equipped. For example, I see you have Xenons and mine doesn't, I have PDC and you don't etc. I've seen a few of these cars for sale now and they are all different. Next mod is an ECU re-flash that will push the HP to 536 and torque to 502 according to OE Tuning. Funny how the 07 hp will exceed my 08 BS but they are really two different cars and can't be compared.

2007 CLK63AMG CABROILET
Who is going to perform the ECU Flash, and how much will it cost? Have you made any other performance upgrades to the cabroilet? I am asking these questions because I never hear much news regarding the CLK63 Cabroilet.

I've talked at length with Jeremy of OETuning, a well respected board sponsor and tuner. They are currently running a 20% discount this month, see the current OETuning thread. I believe he quoted $1195.00 before the discount which should put the reflash at/about $995.00. I've also discussed a reflash with my local AMG Performance Center rep, Renntech, and Powerchips as well. From what I've been told by these reliable sources the 07 CLK63 is detuned and only achieves 90% WOT during hard accleration. A reflash opens the throttle, advances the timing and removes the current 155mph speed limiter. The car becomes an absolute beast to drive with noticeable performance increases and a top speed of 190+. Concensus opinion is a reflash will net 50-60hp and 30-35 in torque. I'm going reflash mine later this month. It's worth it to me if I only get 50% of the claimed performance! BTW, don't install K&N filters. Every professional I've talked to including Renntech, my AMG center etc. says your OEM filters flow just as much air without fouling the MAFs.

congrats on the new addition to the family. Rarely see a clk63 vert around here. As far as tuning, go with OE Tuning. Back in Feb i paid $1200 for my tune that gave me 50hp and 30-35 tq. Getting it 20% less would have been great for me, but oh well.
I asked Jeremy about what changes are done and he discussed what lovemybs already stated. In addition, there are 80 or so files in the ECU and he changes around 50 or so files. Doesnt touch the failsafes in place that MB put so the car wont go kaboom but stay in limpmode. Def noticeable right away when i started it up. TB response could be felt right away and when on the interstate, def noticeable.

Thanks! Well it's a long story on how I found the CLS63 in Mars Red. Short version: I originally (back in 2008) saw and fell in love with a CLS55 in Mars Red with PP that I saw on Ebay, and it was for sale by a used car dealer in Montgomery, AL. I lost out on it by a day or two to a guy in Texas. Almost exactly a year later while messing around on Ebay late one night, I came across my car for sale at MB of Delray. Needless to say, I stayed up all night and called immediately the next morning to check on its availability. As it turned out, both cars were special orders by MB of Miami and to my knowledge are the only ones in the US. It may be just as rare as your C63 AMG Estate. Nevertheless, it is definitely a head turner.

Powerchips is offering the same ECU reflash for $500.00 through 6/31/11 (see their post). OETunings reflash is approximately $995.00, hmm? I've used Powerchips (this is not an endorsement nor am I affiliated with them in any way) in the past on my BMW M-cars and was satisfied with their work. I can now get both my CLKs reflashed for the price of one. Total savings before the "ECU reflash competition" began (OETuning vs. Powerchips) is approximately $1,500! I was wondering when this competition would start due I'm sure to slow business, tight money, higher owner financial priorities, and a general lack of discretionary funds to spend on an ECU reflash. I am also wondering if RENNTECH and EvoSport are making plans to reduce the extremely high cost (IMO for what you get) of their ECU reflash? I think they should as it will certainly lead to more business. IMO ECU reflashes are/were too expensive anyway so this is a great opportunity to relflash your ECU that should be taken advantage of regardless of which tuner you choose.
