M113 E55 Power output

It seems like this question would have been asked before, but I couldn't find a thread.

Does anyone know what accounts for the ~25hp differential in power rating for the M113 motor in the W208 and W209? I'm wondering how difficult it would be to get the M113 in my w208 to make the power of an m113 in a 209?

To the best of my knowledge it's due to a freer exhaust in the 209. They came without a resonator as well so I imagine the masaged airflow was enough to account for the boost in power.

Thanks Slowsky, Marcus has become quite helpful so far between this and his aftermarket stereo install tips.

It looks like the compression ratio was bumped up from 10.5 to 11, and the rev limiter was upped to 6700 from 6k.

And were are the compression rate change? in the heads? or pistons! cause the bore/stroke are the same in the 2 engines!

Pistons are different (compression 10.5 to 11:1, ECU upgraded from ME2.0 to ME2.8, slightly different cams, overall the same basic engine.

So, we can install the new era pistons in the first gen engine (cause it has the same bore) raising the compression to 11:1 and put the new camshafts too (maybe for piston clearance with the valves) Someone made that before?

Yes you change chage the pistons, realisticly the cost of the pistons whould be prohibitive.

I'd be checking the piston to valve clearence very carefully although there should be no issues

Yaaaaaa i know that, the piston set cost is stupid only for 15/20hp (3200$-3500$) is not an option buy a new set. but maybe we know about a flooded engine (broken con.rod) with the piston set perfect/valves/springs/camshafts and maybe this one is an option to get the parts

Many thanks in advance
