clk 63 amg - its damn quick !

Hi,

Im new to this board and i have just purchased my new 07 clk 63 amg coupe. First thing i have to say is i just sold my 2010 M3 and was feeling sad that i would never drive a car as quick as the m3 but then came the clk63 and blew my ucking mind away! this thing is ucking quick ! wow never knew a machine could accelerate so aggressively and that torque just pins u back to your seat where u have difficulty breathing oxygen in to your lungs from the g force.

only thing is the damm traction controll kicks in 1 and 2nd gear all the time so i decided to wack in 19" 275 wide tyres on the back. does anyone know whats the largest tyres i can put onto this baby for extra traction ?

thanks

steve

Congrat......I don't understand why Mercedes decided not to import the Clk63 "coupe" version to the US. Mercedes would definitely sell more coupe version then the Clk63 Cabriolet for sure.

Hey buddy!

Great to see another CLK63 owner!

I've had mine for a couple of years now and have loved every second of ownership.
I have the coupe version.

It amazes me just like I bought it yesterday

I found myself racing an M3 the other day funnily enough.. I don't think he knew what he was up against. He must have thought it was just a shiney Benz.

He rolled his window down and asked what it was.
He said that he thought his car was quick and that mine was ridiculous. lol!!

In the lower gears, the traction control will always try to intervene, due ti the amount of torque that this engine produces.

You'll get the hang of it soon enough.
You'll just need to feed the throttle alittle more sensitively.

Once you're used to it, you'll be able to enduce wheel spin while accellerating without ESP stepping in

And you're right about the breathing... .... you can chuff air out of the lungs of your passenger moreso, as they expect it less ... funny as hell!

Congrats on your purchase... look after her!

I think they deemed the cabriolet more suitable to the climate over there and that people would want a convertible more than the coupe.

well they were wrong. There are more people who would have bought the 63 coupe if available.

congrats!
i don't drive the my 2006 CLK55 Cab as much as i'd like, but i can honestly say that it's my favorite MB of all time...and i've owned quite a few. it's fast, beautiful, built well, AND surprisingly it's bigger than the CL coupes in the back seats. enjoy!

Hey buddy

Perhaps they didn't want a CLK63 coupe hindering sales of the Black Series.

Hope you are well.

Putting in a Limited Slip Differential would be my first step.

I wish AMG equipped LSD as OEM on the CLK63.

Wider, sticker tires can help rear traction.

It is standard if you have the AMG Advance Driving Package :-) And it works

i've not driven the CLK63 cab(there just aren't that many around), but i have driven several E63's(incl wagon), and frankly they didn't feel that much faster than my CLK55 W209 cab(for every day driving).

I'd be curious others' opinion on this.

I've driven CL63 and it felt much heavier and sluggish even tho it had the 6.2; when I got back into my CLK 55 it didnt feel slow at all compared to when I pushed my friends lp560 to +175mph then got back into my 55 and felt like... damn that was serious

I've also had the opportunity to drive the C63 but it was highly tuned so it's not a great comparison. It was more responsive and definitely felt faster and I did feel slow and miserable getting back into my 55. Mostly because the music coming out of the C63s exhaust was like dubstep while mine sounded like house music if you get what I am trying to say.

My 55 still makes my heart beat fast whenever I hit the pedal and the way I am propelled back into my seat is always shock and puts a smile on my face because of the monster torque its seriously impressive. Can't complain about my 55.

There are two Russian kids in my old Uni who one owns a CLK500 highly tuned claiming he can walk a 55 and the second has a CLK63 stock. I should head back to the school and propose a little drag race on an airway strip (my friend who flies private does it with his twin brother all the time). It's just a thought but it should be interesting to see how my 55 performs next to a 63.

this is exactly the reason why the black series is most important for the us market and the cheaper clk63 amg would interfere with sales of the BS

not really agreeing with this, the black series is not available in Canada, yet we have harsh winters at times, so the coupe would of sold a lot better.

I don't think ive ever seen a clk63 AMG cab on the road here, and I live in the toronto area.

I ask myself this same question...if the CLK63 coupe was imported to the US, it would be in my garage.

I doubt MB would have had problems selling the 300 or so blacks series if they imported the reg 63 coupe.

If I had the 63, i could be hunting for 11's instead of 12's.
